Itinéraire
Perge revient à l'histoire en tant que ville grecque de Pamphylie, et avec la Pamphylie, il est à nouveau soumis à la domination successive des Perses, des Athéniens et des Perses. Alexandre le Grand, après avoir quitté Phaselis, occupa Perge avec une partie de son armée. La route entre ces deux villes est décrite comme longue et difficile. Le règne d'Alexandre a été suivi par l'empire diadoque des Séleucides, puis par les Romains. Perge a acquis une renommée pour le culte d'Artémis, dont le temple se trouvait sur une colline à l'extérieur de la ville, et en l'honneur de laquelle des fêtes annuelles étaient célébrées.Les pièces de monnaie de Perge représentent à la fois la déesse et son temple.
Certains chercheurs associent le nom de la ville à "Azatiwadaya". La ville connue de ce nom a été fondée par Azatiwada de Quwê sur sa frontière orientale, à Karatepe. [3] Selon une tradition plus récente, Aspendos a été fondée un peu plus tôt par des Grecs qui pourraient être venus d'Argos. La large gamme de sa monnaie à travers le monde antique indique qu'au 5ème siècle avant JC, Aspendos était devenue la ville la plus importante de Pamphylie. À cette époque, selon Thucydide, la rivière Eurymedon était navigable jusqu'à Aspendos, [4] et la ville tirait une grande richesse d'un commerce de sel, d'huile et de laine. Aspendos n'a pas joué un rôle important dans l'Antiquité en tant que force politique. Son histoire politique pendant la période de colonisation correspondait aux courants de la région Pamphylienne. Dans cette tendance, après la période coloniale, il est resté un temps sous l'hégémonie lycienne. En 546 avant JC, il passa sous la domination perse. Le fait que la ville continue de frapper des pièces en son propre nom indique cependant que

Ömer was a very friendly, knowledgeable guide who went out of his way to give us a great experience. Our driver was excellent in navigating his way around the busy roads. All the places we visited were really interesting. Topped off with a delicious Turkish ice cream at the waterfall. Highly recommend!
