L'un des engagements australiens les plus connus de la guerre du Vietnam - site externe était la bataille de Long Tan - site externe, 18 août 1966. La bataille a vu l'action de 108 ANZACS contre une force viet cong (Nord vietnamienne) - site externe estimé entre 1500 et 2500. La bataille a été l'un des plus gros conflits de la guerre du Vietnam ainsi que l'une des rares batailles dans l'histoire du monde à avoir été remportée contre de telles chances. La Journée des vétérans du Vietnam, célébrée en Australie le 18 août de chaque année, commémore la bataille de Long Tan et les Australiens qui ont servi pendant la guerre du Vietnam et est l'occasion de se souvenir de ceux qui ne sont pas rentrés chez eux.

Vers 8h00. Votre guide privé et votre chauffeur viendront vous chercher à votre hôtel à Hô Chi Minh-Ville et commenceront votre voyage vers Long Tan, une ancienne base militaire australienne située à environ 90 kilomètres (56 miles) de la ville. Today we went out to Long Tan with our tourguide Alex and trainee James. As my husband had recently lost his uncle who was an ANZAC veteran, we wanted to come and pay our respects and farewell a fallen soldier. From the start, Alex understood what our expectations were from the day and delivered with great respect and professionalism. His vast knowledge of the Long Tan area was amazing and we really enjoyed his photos as it gave us perspective on how much things have changed. The day was perfect and we couldn't have asked for more from Alex. I also have to mention what a pleasant young man James is, he is eager to learn and has a very engaging personality. His camera skills are amazing and I think he will be a great tourguide in the future. Thank you all for a wonderful day under difficult circumstances.
Wow, what a trip! If you’re an Aussie or Kiwi you need to do this tour. Ask for Tuan! A tour guide who was in the war and has real stories and speaks English. His humour and jokes are a bonus! Tuan was very informative and very respectful of the troops who fought in Long Tan. I couldn’t think of any other tour guide for this trip. Will definitely recommend to our friends.
