La tombe de Ramsès III, appelée KV 11, est un système complexe dans la Vallée des Rois. Elle est connue depuis l'Antiquité, ses merveilleux décors incluent des motifs ornementaux en saillie peints hauts en couleurs représentant les écritures rituelles traditionnelles (la litanie de Ra, le livre des portes, etc.) et Ramsès devant les dieux. Des scènes profanes insolites sont présentes dans les petites chambres latérales du couloir d'entrée, où sont exposés des tributs étrangers tels que des poteries très détaillées importées de la mer Égée,un arsenal royal, des bateaux et, dans la dernière des chambres latérales, les harpistes aveugles qui ont donné la tombe l'un de ses surnoms: « La tombe des harpistes »
Le matin, vous serez pris en charge à votre hôtel dans le centre de Louxor ou le port par un véhicule climatisé pour un voyage guidé complet d'environ 4 heures. Vous serez d'abord transporté à la Nécropole de Thèbes, la Vallée des Rois sur la Cisjordanie de Louxor. Cette ancienne nécropole est un incontournable pour les voyageurs de Louxor. Vous y visiterez quatre tombes royales, dont la tombe de Ramsès, la tombe d'Horemheb, la tombe de Mérenptah .Vallée des Rois sur la Cisjordanie de Louxor.
Dans la mythologie égyptienne, Ptah est le démiurge de Memphis, le dieu des artisans et des architectes. Dans l’incarnation de faucon de la nouvelle divinité, il a été placé dans les tombes pour accompagner et assurer la protection des morts lors de leur voyage à l'ouest de Louxor. Le tombeau 8, qui est situé dans la Vallée des Rois, a été le lieu de sépulture du pharaon Mérenptah et a servi de modèle pour les tombeaux de rois. Mérenptah était le fils de Ramsès II et de la reine Isis-Nofret. Le tombeau a été découvert par Howard Carter en 1903. Bien évidemment, le nombre de chambres latérales est bien moins important, et les couloirs et les salles sont beaucoup plus hautes de plafond. Le tombeau ne présente aucune rupture d’axe contrairement aux tombeaux de l’époque de Horemheb. Aussi, pour la première fois, l'entrée était sensiblement plus large que les tombeaux plus anciens.

Ce jeune roi du Nouvel Empire avait environ 10 ans lorsqu'il monta sur le trône et mourut alors qu'il n'avait que 19 ans. Temple de Merenptah, rive ouest de Louxor
Le tombeau de Ramsès IV (KV 2) dans la Vallée des Rois est assez différent de la plupart des autres tombeaux construits ici. Cette tombe est de loin la plus spectaculaire des autres tombes que vous verrez. Les hiéroglyphes sur le mur représentent des scènes de la litanie de Ra, du livre des morts, du livre des cavernes, du livre des cieux, du livre d'Amduat et du livre de la nuit. Les couleurs bleues et blanches sur les murs à l'intérieur de la chambre funéraire sont très vibrantes et vous pouvez voir le sarcophage du roi en granit rose. Il y a aussi une belle scène de la déesse Nut au plafond, où elle est représentée avalant le soleil et le traversant dans son ventre, pour que Nut lui donne naissance. La tombe a tellement de couleurs et de détails, même le plafond au-dessus des sarcophages avec sa déesse Nut qui s'étend à travers l'espace. Le sarcophage est l'un des plus grands de la vallée, même si certaines peintures se sont détériorées, c'est l'une des plus décorées.
Ramesseum (temple mortuaire de Ramsès II)
Tombeau du roi Ramsès lx est le troisième pharaon de la vingtième dynastie du Nouvel Empire de l'Égypte antique. Son nom avant d'accéder à la couronne était Amonhirkhopshef. Il est le cinquième fils de Ramsès III et est nommé au poste de prince héritier par la vingt-deuxième année du règne de son père lorsque ses quatre frères aînés précèdent sa promotion au rang de prince héritier . La tombe a tellement de couleurs et de détails, même le plafond au-dessus des sarcophages avec sa déesse Nut s'étendant à travers l'espace. Le sarcophage est l'un des plus grands de la vallée, même si certains des tableaux se sont détériorés c'est l'un des plus décorés.

Easily booked, great informative and helpful guide (Hassan) clean and modern minibus with great aircon. As this was our second visit to the Valley of the Kings we had an idea of what we wanted to see, this was easily facilitated by Hassan. We had an interesting insight into the history of the Valley and some great information on the stories we would see in the tombs. If you’re on one of the TUI cruises and don’t want to do the whole day trip offered with them then this is a good alternative, safe and definitely value for money.

We had a private tour booked to visit the tombs / Valleyof the Kings. Our guide Amil, was very knowledgeable and funny, he gave the story of the tombs etc, however he stayed in the cafe area whilst we walked around the tombs amd valley on our own. We noticed other guides following to the door of the tomb, telling the story in detail of each. It could have been nice to get this detail for each, however walking around on our own enabled us to see more than the three tombs included with the ticket. We also saw King Tut’s tomb which costs extra., but we felt worth it. We also went to visit Hatshepsut’s temple, again our guide waited in the cafe whilst we walked around the temple on our own. Definitely recommend the experience, but look carefully gor a guide that stays with you if that is ehat you want.

I feel so lucky that Hasan was our tour guide on our private tour to the valley of the kings. He made the Egyptian history come alive and he was such a fantastic story teller. The kids loved him, and he made our visit smooth and as enjoyable as it can possible be when you are queening with thousands of other tourists in blazing heat to see the tombs (with two sometimes grumpy kids). Having the luxury of a private guide meant that we could leave when the kids had enough and we could do things in our own tempo. Hassan was very responsive to us and an all in all kind man. I highly recommend this tour.

Very well organised, khalid was an excellent, passionate guide with plenty of information but not excessive. We visited all the sights we wanted too and were able to opt out of the alabaster tour which was not of interest. Easy morning and we beat the crowds. Everything ran to time.
