Guatape, cette commune orientale d'Antioquia, située à une heure et demie de Medellin, ouvre un monde de couleurs dans ses rues, orné de plinthes qui racontent des histoires de la ville et de ses habitants. Ils l'appellent aussi la mer intérieure d'Antioquia, l'Acapulco de Colombie, l'intérieur de Carthagène, Paraíso Paisa, Remanso de Paz, le cœur de l'Est d'Antioquia. Il a été nommé en l'honneur de Cacique Guatapé, habitant de ce territoire à l'époque préhispanique. Un autre nom qu'il a eu est la Ceja de Guatapé. Le rocher de Guatapé ou Piedra del Peñol est un monolithe de 220 mètres de haut situé à Guatapé (Antioquia, Colombie). La pierre d'El Peñol, composée de quartz, de feldspath et de mica, a été grimpée pour la première fois le 16 juillet 1954 par un habitant de la région, Luis Eduardo Villegas López. en compagnie de Ramon Diaz et Pedro Nel Ramírez jusqu'à présent, la pierre appartient toujours à la famille Villegas. Vous pouvez maintenant accéder à son sommet en montant 740 marches construites dans le monolithe.

This was a perfectly organized day trip from Medellin to Guatapé. We had plenty of time to see all the sites without feeling rushed. The real star though was our guide, Hector. He is hands down one of the greatest guides we’ve ever had. He was incredibly thoughtful and went out of his way to make sure our day was extra special. We’re so thankful for the opportunity to meet him and explore Colombia together.

Excellent tour, 100% recommended, we were a total of 8 people in the family, we had a super good time, the tour was excellent, the guides were always attentive and respectful, I would definitely return.

This tour was definitely worth it if you’re interested in spending a day in Guatape as it includes so much. Plan for the weather since except for the drive, the entire day is spent outdoors. We climbed the Peñol rock, which was a bit challenging but worth it for the views from the top and everyone can go at their own pace. It costs extra but only about 30,000 pesos. From there, we visited the colorful town for shopping and snacks, and afterwards we had lunch and enjoyed the boat ride. We felt like we experienced just enough for this trip but would definitely come back again. Nelson was our guide and he was fantastic.

The private tour was top notch. Comfortable sprinter van for the ride. Lunch was delicious. Our tour Guide Arturo was awesome. He gave us very detailed information of guatape and the history. We stopped and did the boat tour of the lake surrounding the big rock. Then went to The rock. It's a hard climb to the top but worth it. Ended rhe tour in the town pf guatape which was full of local culture. I highly recommend this private tour. Was well worth the price which wasn't expensive. No complaints at all
