La plus grande concentration d’éléphants d’Asie sauvages au monde se trouve dans le parc national de Minneriya au Sri Lanka, qui abrite une grande variété d’espèces. Près de 31 000 hectares composent le parc national de Minneriya. Près de 170 espèces d’oiseaux et autres animaux se trouvent également dans la région. Les safaris en jeep sont un moyen populaire pour les visiteurs de parcourir le parc, augmentant ainsi leurs chances de voir les animaux du parc dans leur habitat naturel au crépuscule. Quelle est la particularité du parc national de Minneriya ? Parc national de Minneriya | Les villes anciennes, Sri Lanka... Dominé par l'ancienne Minneriya Wewa, le parc regorge de broussailles, de forêts et de zones humides sur ses 88,9 km² qui abritent également des macaques toque, des cerfs sambar, des buffles, des crocodiles et des léopards (ces derniers sont cependant très rarement vus). Il existe des animaux plus rares que les groupes peuvent observer dans le parc, tels que le léopard du Sri Lanka et l'ours paresseux du Sri Lanka, mais tous deux sont insaisissables et plus difficiles à observer. Les conditions du parc offrent un habitat bien adapté à jusqu'à 160 espèces d'oiseaux, y compris des oiseaux aquatiques tels que les pélicans, les cigognes et les hérons.

This safari was the highlight of my trip! Our guide Sudath and driver Ananda were so knowledgeable about the elephants and their habitat. Seeing them in the wild roaming free was so special. To watch these majestic creatures frolicking in the lake was phenomenal. We had a fabulous trip with our very knowledgeable guide. He was patient and stopped continuously to point out birds and wildlife. We saw many elephants, some alone, some in groups, and a number of young calves staying very close to their mothers. I highly recommend this tour. Alan

Had a great time at Eco park with Sudath. He arrived on time and kept in contact leading up to the pick up. Got very close to lots of elephants including a relatively newborn one with its mother.

Our driver was able to take us to a quiet area in which we were able to get very close to a family of elephants. He was punctual and very friendly. Lovely to see elephants in their habitat.

Originally we booked to go to minneriya but asked if we could go to eco park instead as this was known to have more elephants at the time, and the driver was happy to take us there instead. The driver was great at pointing out all of the different animals on the safari, such as elephants, peacocks and different birds. An extra treat was he stopped and got us a king coconut on the way home! One of our favourite activities we have done on this trip. One thing to note is entry to the national park isn’t included in this price so make sure to have cash to pay on arrival. We paid 5000SLR for 2 people.
