Our private guided tour of Drottningholm Palace was absolutely fantastic. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing captivating stories about Swedish royalty and the palace's rich history. The architecture and gardens were breathtaking
We have never had a worse travel experience. We booked this tour for 9:30am. We were emailed a note less than 24 hours before the tour that the tour company had decided we would go at 1:30pm! When we received the email we clearly told them we could not take the tour that afternoon. No matter what we said or who we contacted, they charged us any way! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.
Dear Nicholas, first of all thank you for your review. Since the very beginning you booked this tour at 13:30 and your original voucher stated same 13:30 pick up time. You asked to change pick up time to earlier less then 24 hours. We offered you 12:00 noon earliest but this time slot didn't fit your new itinerary also. We are really sorry but the very last cancellation during high season is not possible. We kindly asking to appreciate our business and policy of Tripadvisor.
We had a wonderful driver who was knowledgable and quite informative and quite flexible. She also provided us with a tour of Stockholm on the way to the Drottningholm Palace.
very worth seeing, impressive. successful documentaion to the interior as well as the exhibits, the history, etc.. friendly staff.
Very relaxed drive to the castle. Interesting background information but also not too long-winded. Only a pity I did not know in advance that the opera tour is only scheduled with a guide from the castle and only at predetermined times.
The beautiful grounds and park are lovely and the history of the site is very interesting! Our guide Kate was 100%- would highly recommend her!!!
We had an amazing experience on this tour. Our guide was an encyclopedia of Swedish history. We could not asked for a better experience.
I would have rated it higher however working with the tour operator was challenging. This is a 3 hour tour. That should be clearly stated in the description on the site. Further I got little information from the operator about the tour or itinerary. I did get a question about when I wanted to be picked up - I chose 10:00 am. Then radio silence. On the day of the tour, I was informed I would be picked up at 13:00. Then I was told 11:40. Only after I asked I got the name of my tour guide. My tour guide was lovely and well informed. The itinerary is as follows drive to palace, tour palace and then drive to Chinese pavilion and tour pavilion. We chose to walk from pavilion back to palace. That was lovely. The weather was perfect.
Thank you for your detailed feedback. We’re glad to hear that your guide was lovely and knowledgeable, and that you enjoyed the palace, Chinese pavilion, and the walk back. We sincerely apologize for the confusion and lack of clear communication from our side regarding the tour length, pick-up time, and guide details. Your comments are extremely valuable, and we will work to improve how we communicate all tour information upfront so future guests have a smoother experience. We truly appreciate your understanding and hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a flawless experience on a future visit.
Our guide Kate was lovely as is Drottningholm, but the man she works for at Viator – unbelievingly rude! After booking my tour and providing all necessary info, I was informed by email that the tour would cost 120 euros more payable the day of the tour. When I tried to pay the additional amount by credit card, Kate could not process it and called the Viator office to do so. Viator said they could not take a credit card (what super large travel business does not take credit cards?) and that I must pay in euros which I did not have. After explaining, I asked again about using a card. After all, I had booked with a credit card! The man on the phone told me he would take a card, but that he would charge a 24 percent processing fee! I politely shared that I thought that was exorbitant and have never been charged that much. He then accused me of trying to cheat him!! I was shocked. He then hung up on me! My guide Kate was embarrassed and apologetic. I volunteered that I could pay her in American dollars and we settled up then.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re very glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit to Drottningholm and that Kate provided you with a lovely guided tour. She truly cares about giving guests a great experience, and we appreciate you recognizing her efforts. At the same time, we are very sorry to hear about the frustration you experienced regarding the additional payment and the phone conversation. This is certainly not the experience we want any of our guests to have. We understand how uncomfortable and surprising that situation must have felt, especially after booking the tour in advance with a credit card. The additional cost mentioned was related to services outside the standard booking, but we acknowledge that the way this situation was communicated to you did not meet the level of professionalism we strive for. Your feedback is important, and we will review this internally to ensure communication with our guests remains respectful and clear at all times. We’re grateful that you were still able to complete the tour and that Kate helped find a solution on the day. Thank you again for your feedback, and we truly hope the beautiful experience at Drottningholm remains a positive memory from your visit.
Kate was great!!! Besides a great tour, she answered so many questions about the history of Sweden and life there today. Learned so much! Fun and educational...can’t beat that!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear that Kate made the tour both fun and educational, and that you enjoyed learning about Sweden’s history and modern life. It’s fantastic that the experience was so engaging, and we’re glad it left such a positive impression!
