Notre visite privée du Colisée est conçue pour les passionnés d'histoire et les voyageurs curieux, avec le fil conducteur de laisser les visites standard dans la poussière. Si vous voulez vraiment vous plonger dans plus de 2500 ans d’histoire fascinante de la Ville Éternelle, le meilleur endroit pour commencer est le Colisée. Édifice le plus spectaculaire de la Rome antique, cet amphithéâtre immortel a un passé rempli à parts égales de gore et de gloire, tout comme l’empire romain lui-même. Au fil du temps, les frontières entre histoire et légende ont peut-être été estompées, mais votre guide vous aidera à démystifier les mythes et à vous choquer avec des histoires encore plus stupéfiantes que celles que vous avez vues se déroulant sur le grand écran. Des méchants empereurs aux terribles combats de gladiateurs, nous allons plonger dans l’excitation dès le départ!

Chaque centimètre de cet arc de triomphe massif est recouvert de gravures et de sculptures, ce qui en fait un véritable panneau d'affichage, conçu pour annoncer les réalisations de Constantin lors de la bataille du pont Milvius. Curieusement, une grande partie de sa décoration a été bricolée à partir de monuments construits par les empereurs précédents, plus précisément ceux de Trajan, Hadrien et Marc Aurèle. Ce sont tous des hommes que Constantin considérait comme les grands souverains du IIe siècle de notre ère et avec lesquels il souhaitait le plus être associé.
Ce jalon triomphal agit également comme un témoignage éternel de la victoire de Constantin et de la fin des persécutions contre les chrétiens.

C'était autrefois la plaque tournante du vaste empire, où les premiers Romains se mêlaient et se mêlaient tout au long de ses jours de gloire. En contemplant les imposantes arches de triomphe et les imposants vestiges de maisons de sénat et de temples sacrés, vous serez fascinés par les histoires qui se sont déroulées sur cette terre même. Découvrez l'histoire d'amour épique de Marc Antony et de Cléopâtre et écoutez l'histoire passionnante de la conspiration qui a coûté la vie à Jules César - mais découvrez également comment le grand empire romain a commencé à s'effondrer en vue de son effondrement spectaculaire en 500 après JC.
Palatine Hill

Selon la mythologie romaine, le mont Palatin était le lieu de naissance de Romulus et Remus, les frères jumeaux qui ont été allaités par une louve et sont devenus plus tard les fondateurs de Rome. Les sources littéraires impliquent que la ville fondée par Romulus se limitait principalement à cette colline, où Romulus habitait dans une hutte dans le coin sud-ouest, qui était continuellement restaurée en son honneur.
C'était aussi là où vivaient des Romains très célèbres et riches et où finalement aussi les Emporeurs ont choisi d'installer leurs gigantesques résidences.

History comes to life
John Tinto conjured vivid images of ancient Roman life and was very knowledgeable. I even enjoyed his fascinating word etymology facts. He tailored the guide to our interests perfectly. He even gave us extra time and showed us the Circus Maximus. It was an instant highlight of our trip.

Colosseum is a must!
Bosco was our guide and he was great! This was a private tour with just our party. Bosco was very knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed our tour! If it is super hot, be prepared with water, sunscreen, hats etc. Our tour was 3 hours in the hot sun with little shade. The Colosseum is amazing and fascinating. It’s a must see despite the crowds. We probably didn’t need to see palatine hill or the forum. It was interesting but our family would have preferred spending more time in the colosseum dungeons and platform of the arena. Thank you Bosco for a wonderful time!

An eye opener of an experience!
We enjoyed our private tour through the Coliseum. Imaginations run wild as our tour guide walked us around and explained all that happened during the Gladiator days. What an experience and eye opening insight to how the Coliseum was built and pillaged.
The pass allowed us to skip the looooooong lines and our guide exceeded our expectations with her knowledge.
Highly recommended.

Carlotta - the incredible tour guide! *****
I don't know how much I was expecting as this was only the third time l've used a tour guide with varying outcomes but can I say, Carlotta was outstanding! In Depth Tour of the Colosseum / Forum Sites
This was our second tour with What a Life Tours during our visit to Rome and it was exceptional. We had the absolute pleasure of having a private walk around the Colosseum and Roman Forum/Palatine Hill with Carlotta. She was incredibly knowledgeable with professional training in archeology and customized our experience to our preferences. We spent more time around Palatine Hill with it's spectacular views.
The tour company did an excellent job rescheduling due to unforeseen circumstances that required us to delay our arrival in Rome. One minor suggestion, the meet up point wasn't very clear and we wasted some time finding Carlotta at the beginning of our tour.
These sites are immense and you can't possible cover is one visit, so we came back on our own later in our visit to explore the Forum even further!
