There is some walking on some hills as we expected. The tour is very interactive with the guide and personable.
Our guide was personable, witty, and deeply knowledgeable. I appreciated that he actively sought questions from my group of 15 and answered everything patiently and with erudition. I’ll forever think of John Knox as “our weird beardy boy” as we gazed at his statue in the cemetery!
Thanks for the review So glad you enjoyed your walking tour in Stirling. Bringing history to life with entertaining stories and a bit of humour is what we are all about!
We had a great time on our tour. William (our guide) was fantastic and very knowledgeable about the history of all the sites we stopped at. Would highly recommend to anyone hoping to learn more about the history of Stirling!
Thanks for the review. So glad you enjoyed your private walking tour of Stirling castle and the Old Town in Stirling with our guide William.
Title would imply that Castle Entry is included but it is not. Fortunately there was not a long line to purchase tickets. And yes, it was noted in the tour description thus the 5 stars. Our guide, William was extremely knowledgeable and staged our trip up the hill so that we had short breaks while listening to the history of various Old Town landmarks. The cemetery was fascinating and we could have spent much more time there. Of course the castle is a must for anyone with the least interest in British history. Easy day trip from Edinburgh by train and William met us at the station. Lots of good shopping areas and a lovely late lunch at Darnley Coffee House.
Many thanks for your comments. So glad you enjoyed your private walking tour of Stirling Castle and the historic Old Town with William. Yes we think the old town cemetery is a really special place, a unique experience. Thanks again
Our private walking tour of Stirling with Brice was absolutely fantastic! He met us right at the train station (we came in from Glasgow), and from there, guided us through the charming and historic town of Stirling all the way up to the magnificent Stirling Castle. Brice was an incredible guide — personable, knowledgeable, and a gifted storyteller. He brought every part of Stirling to life, from the narrow streets of the old town to the castle walls overlooking the valley. The way he told the story of King James VI of Scotland — who also became James I of England, uniting the two crowns in 1603 — was especially fascinating and easy to understand. Even our 22-year-old son and his girlfriend were completely engaged. He also took us through the old cemetery and explained the significance of the different burial levels and the history behind the church. Every stop was rich with detail and delivered in a way that felt like walking through a living museum. The private nature of the tour made all the difference — just the four of us which allowed for questions, personal stories, and a far more relaxed, intimate pace. No crowds, no rushed moments — just quality time in an unforgettable setting. If you’re going to Stirling, do yourself a favor and book this tour with Brice. It’s the perfect way to experience both the town and the castle — and to truly appreciate the history Scotland has to offer.

Jane was an amazing guide for my family! She was incredibly knowledgeable and accomodating. My teenagers had an incredible time and are still talking about how fun and interesting Jane made our exploration of this historic place. An incredible family experience.
Thanks for your feedback, So glad your enjoyed your walking tour in Stirling
BRAVEHEART. STIRLING, that speaks to us Breton. Robert the Bush, Sir William WALLACE, the hero of a people who wanted to destroy the English outside Scotland, we feel them in these mythical places. They're here around the castle. They didn't fight in vain. We see in the castle their history, the history of Scotland, of a great people. The Scots were European pros, unlike the Welsh and English. Scottish, Breton, we are Celtic, brothers. Very beautiful castle, very beautiful page of Scottish history. NOT TO BE MISSED
So Glad you enjoyed your tour. Thank you.
We visited Stirling and its famous castle as part of a getaway outside Edinburgh. The city is easily accessible by train (50min) or bus and definitely deserves the visit. The historic center is not very large but offers pretty historic streets. The castle is a must: the outdoor spaces are perfectly preserved and the interior carefully reconstituted. In addition, the visit to the ramparts offers pretty views of the surrounding countryside. Allow two hours to visit everything.
Thank you. So pleased you enjoyed your walking tour of Stirling and our magnificent castle
