A great experience visiting pubs around Dublin with live music!
Ruairi was a wonderful, local guide. The information shared was wonderful. We loved his sense of humor. There were many events going on during our tour, so he adjusted accordingly and we had a great time. Highly recommended
If you go to Dublin, Temple Bar is a must see area to explore. You will find everything from nice quiet pubs with locals to very vibrant and crowded bars with young energy. Our guide Ruairi was very accommodating and tailored our experience to what we were interested in seeing, which was the more quiet local pubs with tons of history and stories to tell. It was a treat for me to have a proper Guinness which we cannot get where we live while my wife sampled some of the lighter beers on offer. Ireland is rich with history and the Ruairi is an accomplished story teller and walked us through some of Irelands history that we were not familiar with and some of the pubs we visited were weaved into the stories which made it a more enriching experience. The Temple Bar area is largely wall to wall pubs which provided an opportunity to match the pubs we were visiting with our expectations. In our travels my wife and I always enjoy meeting locals and learning about their countries from their perspective. Ruairi did not hold back and we enjoyed his forthrightness which we have found to be an endearing feature of the Irish people. The whole experience deepened our love of Ireland and we thank Ruairi for a memorable evening.
I'd say friendliest people found in Dublin, you go to a pub, if you sing Irish folk music they get you to give them a song!!! We'd served with the army during the 'Troubles' - you find different type of people in Southern Ireland. We weren't welcomed whilst serving but that was due to circumstances. Half the people wanted us there, half didn't. Northern Ireland even then was beautiful, it still is. I'm just surprised Northern Ireland still exists. Irish, Northern and Southern are very friendly, and like the Scottish are Celtic so pass the time through music. You enjoy music, this is the place to go. I'm biased being a folk singer since 1976. Call in yourself, pass the time singing to them! They'll like you all. the more!
First night in Dublin and “R”ewery was great! He really gave us a personalized experience along with his personal local info which was greatly appreciated and so glad we did the first night to get familiar with the area…
Ben was a great tour guide and personalized the tour around spots that were interesting to us. We got to go to three pubs we would not have found on our own as well as learn some history about Dublin! Highly recommend!!!
We were less than happy with this experience. We went to three pubs as promised, but there was no snack provided as stated in the description. We would recommend that you just walk into three random pubs in Dublin and have the same experience yourself.
Dear guest, Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations. We apologize for the missing snacks, as that is certainly an important part of the tour. We will review the details and work on ensuring that our descriptions align with what is actually provided. We appreciate your comments and hope you will give us another chance to provide a more fulfilling experience in the future. Best regards, Withlocals team
Derek was v well informed on styles of Irish music and assured I would hear a nice selection of several, along with a variety of local beer. We visited 3 pubs w/traditional Irish music; rebel music; and an “open mic” venue with an impressive guitar player and a Leprechaun-like musician who played banjo, ukulele, harmonica, and a slide whistle…a genius duo. Derek explained the stories behind some songs/pieces, and shared his background, education, and family status. He provided an engaging and really fun experience, and I highly recommend him if you want to enjoy a major part of Dublin life. He made the event special.
Derek was great tour guide! He took us off the beaten path and gave us some historical insight of some of Dublin´s landmarks. one of the pubs we went to had live music. They played traditional folks songs as well as some pop tunes with an Irish twist. And of course the beer was great :) I would highly recommend it.
Music was great! Music varied at each of the three stops. Away from tourists. Our guide gave some local history while walking. Enjoyable evening!
