La cour de la « Pigna », créée à partir de la zone du XVIe siècle du « Belvédère »
La Sphère dans une Sphère" d'Arnaldo Pomodoro aux Musées du Vatican est un chef-d'œuvre sculptural saisissant qui orne le Cortile della Pigna. Cette œuvre captivante présente une grande sphère de bronze avec une surface texturée et fracturée, révélant une plus petite sphère à l'intérieur. Le jeu d'ombres et de lumières sur les motifs complexes ajoute à son allure envoûtante. Symbolisant des thèmes de complexité et de profondeur intérieure, la sculpture de Pomodoro aux Musées du Vatican témoigne de la convergence de l'art, de la spiritualité et du sens profond au cœur de l'une des institutions culturelles les plus renommées au monde.
La chapelle Sixtine tire son nom du pape Sixte IV della Rovere (pontife de 1471 à 1484) qui fit restaurer l'ancienne Cappella Magna entre 1477 et 1480. Il est connu dans le monde entier à la fois pour être le lieu où se tiennent le conclave et d'autres cérémonies officielles du pape (dans le passé aussi quelques couronnements pontificaux), et pour être décoré de l'une des œuvres d'art les plus célèbres et célébrées de la civilisation artistique les fresques de Michel-Ange.
La plus grande basilique du monde abrite également des chefs-d'œuvre du monde entier comme la célèbre Pietà de Michel-Ange ! il abrite même une crypte souterraine pour les Papes, dont on peut visiter (non disponible le mercredi matin en raison de l'audience papale) La basilique a une grande influence de Michel-Ange et vous pouvez voir son travail d'art partout. La basilique a été construite à l'origine au-dessus de la tombe du prince des apôtres, où le pape se rend chaque Noël ou Pâques.

Our tour guide Anna Maria was very personable and knowledgeable. She met us at the exact time we were supposed to meet and greeted us warmly. While in the Vatican and St. Peter’s she shared a wealth of information and tailored it to our group. We would highly recommend this tour and Anna Maria!
I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share our experience. Our family of six, ranging in age from 10 to 75, was genuinely excited to visit one of the holiest places in Christianity. Instead, we left deeply disappointed. Before we had even entered the Vatican, our guide commented that “Catholics aren’t humble people.” Throughout the tour, he repeatedly inserted his personal opinions about the Catholic Church, compared St. Peter’s Basilica to what Mecca represents for Muslims, and focused on criticizing various popes rather than presenting the history in a balanced and respectful way. At one point, while discussing religious artwork, he remarked that he would be “on the hell list” but refused to explain why. We booked this tour to learn about the history, art, architecture, and spiritual significance of the Vatican, not to hear a guide’s personal views on Catholicism. Regardless of anyone’s personal beliefs, visitors should expect an objective and respectful presentation, especially at one of the world’s most sacred religious sites. The experience was so disappointing that our family returned to the Vatican the following day on our own simply to reflect, pray, and experience the reverence and spiritual greatness we had hoped to find during the tour. The Vatican is an extraordinary place. It deserved a guide who would let its history, faith, and significance speak for themselves.

We had a private tour of the Vatican and it was excellent. Starting at 7:30am was perfectly timed, allowing us to avoid long lines and large crowds. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and provided fascinating historical insights throughout the tour. She navigated us efficiently through the Vatican while ensuring we had ample time to appreciate its incredible art and architecture. Vanessa was absolutely phenomenal! Her knowledge of the Vatican, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica was impressive, but what truly made the experience exceptional was her ability to bring the history, art, and stories to life in a way that kept everyone engaged. She was organized, personable, and incredibly attentive to our group throughout the tour. Having transportation arranged with pickup and drop-off made the entire experience seamless and stress-free. It kept our group together, eliminated the logistics of navigating Rome on our own, and allowed us to focus entirely on enjoying the day. The only way to see the Vatican - have someone make the arrangements and navigate the crowds for you. Raquel was amazing, knew exactly where to go, what line to be in, best spot to stand for great views. She is a wealth of information and gave us a thorough overview of the history of the Vatican, Pope’s, and the art treasures within the walls. She made sure we knew all things about the Sistine Chapel before we went in so we would understand what we were looking at, some stories, answered all our questions. This made the visit so much better than going alone. Raquel took us through St Peter’s and again explained what we were looking at. She then let us stay as long as we wanted to visit the church and square on our own. You can buy additional ticket to go up to cupola- 500 stairs - and you can also visit the crypt under St Peter’s on your own. We had a fabulous day, and wouldn’t dream of doing a tour of such significance without Raquel!
