Explorez le magnifique bras Turnagain et la vallée de Portage avec un guide privé et local. Depuis Anchorage, nous emprunterons la pittoresque route de Seward. L'une des 13 autoroutes aux États-Unis avec la distinction «All American Road». En cours de route, nous aurons de grandes opportunités de voir et de photographier la faune et des panoramas panoramiques. Nous nous arrêtons d'abord au magnifique hôtel Alyeska et à la station de ski de Girdwood. Prenez un tramway panoramique en option jusqu'au sommet du mont Alyeska pour déjeuner avec vue. Prochain arrêt à Portage, où vous embarquerez à bord du mv Ptarmigan pour une croisière facultative d'une heure à travers le magnifique paysage du lac Portage parsemé d'icebergs. Après la croisière, arrêtez-vous au Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, une organisation à but non lucratif dédiée à la préservation de la faune de l'Alaska. Ensuite, imprégnez-vous des vues le long de l'incomparable Turnagain Arm, une partie incroyablement belle de l'Alaska qui abrite une myriade d'animaux sauvages, notamment des mouflons de Dall, des chèvres de montagne, des boose, des bélugas, des ours noirs et des espèces d'oiseaux migrateurs.
Girdwood est une station balnéaire située au sud de la municipalité d'Anchorage. Située près de l'extrémité du bras Turnagain de Cook Inlet, Girdwood se trouve dans une vallée du sud-ouest des montagnes Chugach, entourée de sept glaciers alimentant un certain nombre de ruisseaux, qui convergent dans la vallée ou se déversent directement dans le bras.
Tramway aérien Alyeska
Potter Marsh, à l'extrémité sud de la réserve faunique côtière d'Anchorage, est une pause idéale pour les ornithologues amateurs et autres observateurs de la faune sauvage. Depuis la Seward Highway, juste avant le virage à gauche dans le parking de Potter Marsh, vous aurez une vue imprenable sur Turnagain Arm. Une promenade en bois serpente sur 470 mètres depuis le parking à travers le marais et les ouvertures aquatiques et les carex, habitat parfait pour une grande variété d'oiseaux. De fin avril à septembre, les bernaches du Canada, les canards pilet, les canards à dos blanc, les phalaropes à bec étroit, les grèbes à bec étroit et à bec étroit et les busards Saint-Martin utilisent cette zone humide. Cherchez les nids d'aigle dans les peupliers près de la base de la falaise à l'aide de jumelles ou d'une lunette d'observation.
Aventures Greatland
Le site de Beluga Point est un site archéologique situé le long du bras Turnagain de Cook Inlet. Il a été ajouté au Registre national des lieux historiques le 30 mars 1978. Les artefacts de la région témoignent d'une habitation humaine ancienne. Les artefacts de Beluga Point North 1 (BPN1) ont entre 8 000 et 10 000 ans et sont considérés comme la preuve de la plus ancienne habitation de la municipalité d'Anchorage. Beluga Point est également une zone d'observation de la faune. Les bélugas peuvent être aperçus de façon saisonnière de juillet à août, alors que des centaines de cétacés visitent Cook Inlet pour se nourrir du saumon du Pacifique.
L'AWCC accueille les animaux blessés et orphelins toute l'année, offrant des enclos spacieux et des soins de qualité aux animaux. Ici, vous pouvez voir et photographier de près les animaux emblématiques de l'Alaska qui ne peuvent pas être relâchés dans la nature.

Other than a hiccup with the dining at the top of the tram not being available, we had a great day on Turnagain Arm. Dawn was a wonderful guide--offered good information along the way but also was sensitive to our need for "quiet time" as we were tired from two weeks of traveling in Alaska. Good balance overall, and a gorgeous day to see Portage Glacier!

Did the Turnagain Arm Tour and had a blast with our guide, John! We was both engaging and informative. Loved the first hand knowledge he shared with us. We lucked out with a GORGEOUS day and got some awesome pictures! Only downside was trying to get lunch at the top of the tram at Alyeska, but that was on us for choosing to go that way. Warning for others... it was over an hour wait for food and seating was a nightmare. John, however, was great and so patient while waiting for us. We ended up just switching the food to go and ate in the bus. Thank you John for our outstanding experience!!!!
We had to change our plans at the last minute. I called GLA at 9am and by 10:30am we were on our tour. John was terrific. The experience was professional and fun!

I can't say enough about planning Alaskan excursions with Steve at Greatland Adventures. My husband and I visited Alaska for the first time August 6-15, 2019. We were looking for multiple excursions in both Anchorage and Seward and were interested in smaller group type of activities as I wanted to photograph and video the experiences which is hard to do with a lot of people. Steve worked with me to provide what he could through his company, but ALSO worked with other tour operators to plan the perfect trip. The Turnagain Arm tour was AMAZING! We had a wonderful driver Orion who took us to the Alyeska resort, the Wildlife Conservation Center, and a Portage Glacier Cruise. I was able to get some amazing images of the beautiful vistas and local wildlife. Orion also provided us with historical information about Alaska along the way. Steve helped me to find the right hotels prior to our trip. He worked with 4 other tour operators to get us on an ATV tour, a helicopter and dogsledding tour, a whale watching tour, and a zip lining tour. This company is terrific and our trip would not have been what it was without the help of Steve and his wonderful staff!! WE CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH!!!

Our family of eight including two children took this tour today. Steve was our guide and he was friendly and informative. We took the tram ride up Mt. Alyeska and then on to the Portage Lake and Glacier tour. We finished up with a visit to the Wildlife Conservation Center. A wonderful and memorable day. Thanks Steve!
