Our day trip to Toledo exceeded our expectations. Tour guide, Salome, was very knowledgeable and personable. The tour itself was well-organized, starting with a drive around the outskirts to provide some context and followed by a walking tour. We came away with a good understanding of the mix of Muslim, Jewish, and Catholic influences that shaped the history, architecture, and culture of Toledo. At the suggestion of Viator we made a lunch reservation at a nice restaurant, LaCalaba, which we would recommend highly. Our guide dropped us off and returned in an hour to pick us up to complete the tour. Compliments also go to our driver who was very congenial.
We were picked up by our driver Javier promptly at our lodging in a comfortable and clean van. Once we arrived to Toledo, we were met by our local guide Sonia who spent the day with us. Sonia was super knowledgeable and she was like a walking text book. She patiently answered all of our questions and told us a lot of interesting information about the places we visited. We visited the city gates, the Monastery, Jewish Quarters, the Synagogue, etc. Then we had a really delicious lunch at La Clandestine, highly recommend! After lunch, Sonia took us to the Cathedral and taught us a lot about its history. We ended our day after the Cathedral and Javier drove us back to Madrid. Overall, we were very happy with our tour today. The convenience of having our own private car and tour guide was essential to us when traveling with our parents. Thank you Sonia and Javier!
Our driver, Javier, was prompt, very easy to talk with and an incredibly safe driver. Our guide Dani (Daniel), was amazing! He is the 4th generation of his family living in Toledo and you can tell how proud he is of his hometown. We stopped across the river to get panoramic views of the city and the walls before starting our walking tour inside. Dani gave us so much great information during an easy-going and very enjoyable walk around Toledo. We covered the city and never felt rushed or overdone. The pace, history, and conversation was all wonderful. Dani was even kind enough to make a lunch reservation for us at Manjera for when the tour ended. We had amazing food inside the stone cellar of a 16th century home. After lunch we shopped a little and then texted Javi to come meet us and take us back to Madrid. We booked the 8-hour tour - 2 hours of driving time, 3 hour walking tour and up to 3 hours of free time for lunch and shopping. It was a very warm day so we ended up leaving after only 2 hours of free time. It was so nice to be able to leave when we were ready rather than wait for an hour in the heat to get on a bus. We really enjoyed our day and absolutely recommend it to anyone wanting got visit Toledo from Madrid.
Amazing! Highly recommend. It was perfect for me, my wife, and two teens. Private tour is the way to go. Sonia was the best. Super knowledgeable, engaging and a great fit.
Sonia and Javier were fantastic tour guides. Highly recommend using them. They were very knowledgeable and their hospitality was warming.
This was our first trip to Toledo and Javier picked us up promptly in Madrid. Our guide, Fernando, was a wealth of knowledge pertaining to art, architecture and history with a sense of humor to add to it! He was both approachable and engaging. We especially enjoyed his interact analysis of El Greco’s The Burial of Count Orgaz. By the end of the day, we had nicknamed him “the major” because he was so popular with the locals! If you want to dig a little deeper regarding the history Toledo during your visit there, book this tour. You will not be disappointed!
An absolute must. Havi was phenomenal. The way he personalized our tour was next level service. Guiding us through Toledo’s rich history via his personal experience as a local resident coupled with education. This tour was worth every penny!
Our driver Habier was great. Our guide Sophia was outstanding!🙌👍😃.The views were incredible and the cathedral was incredible! Wish we had given ourselves more time to look around. Beautiful city!
If traveling as a large family, this is a great option. We were a family of 10 (2 grandparents, 4 tween/teen, 4 adults). Our drivers (Javier and Willie) were great getting us to Toledo for a day of touring, shopping and dining. Our guide, Sonia, was born and raised in Toledo. Providing us with great history of the layout, conquests, trades, heritage, dining, and more about Toledo. There is still a lot of walking to do. It is uneven, cobblestone streets with steps and medieval market walkways. The Moroccan, Jewish and catholic traditions are unique and a bit sorrowful. So much was lost in the Spanish Inquisitions. I think everyone from my 10 year old daughter to my 75 year old stepdad learned something on this journey.
Absolutely amazing experience & tour. Javier was our driver & Diego was our walking tour guide through Toledo, The tour was custom-built to our needs & allowed us the choice to enter specific sights or to keep moving along. Both Javier and Diego were very nice and accommodating. Diego was a great guide who was born in & grew up in Toledo. His knowledge of the city and its rich history was amazing. This was a tour we will not forget!
