Description

WOW about an amazing tour we had. It started with outstanding communication from the owner from confirmation to updates. Our guide Bruce was very knowledgeable, friendly and provided an outstanding service especially helping my friend who was on a walking stick. Even did a stop for us at Woolworths to get some kiwi chocolate. We highly recommend this tour you won't regret. Thanks Bruce for an outstanding day and making us welcome to Christchurch
Thank you Margaret, we're really pleased you had such a good experience. Bruce is a tremendous driver/guide and clearly that showed! We appreciate you choosing to see the highlights of our beautiful city with us, and hope to have the pleasure of your company again some day. Best wishes.
This was a wonderful tour! Since there was only my husband and I, Andrew asked us right off what types of things we like to do/see; landscape/countryside, shopping (no - not for us), food/wine tasting, city sights and then tailored our excursion to our preferences. Andrew was very enthusiastic and you could tell that he loves his city, Christchurch. Unfortunately, the day started out overcast and rainy but as we drove up into the hills it began to clear a bit so that we could see the snow covered Alps as well as Pegasus Bay and the city below us. We saw the new NZ Stadium that is being built that will be able to host multiple sports, the Cardboard Cathredral; all the murals (must see the 3D mural and the interactive mural); the public library (I was surprised at how busy it was - they have a play area for children and they offer, at no cost, things like sewing machines, 3D printers, computer labs); Christchurch Cathedral which sustained so much damage, it is unusable (and unfortunately, the gov't has put repairs for this iconic church on the back burner due to lack of money and other pressing matters (according to a YouTube video, restoration will be complete in 2028 - I hope it is)); Riverside Market where we at The Butcher's Pie (it was fabulous); saw some "busker" acts. What's a busker you ask?? Andrew asked if we had "busker's back in the states and I had never even heard the word and kept asking him to repeat the word. Then he pointed a busker out and I said "you mean street performers!" Apparently the World's Busker Festival is held in Christchurch and we were able to watch one of the acts. Make sure to ask Andrew to take you to Rollickin' Gelato for some awesome gelato! When it was time to head back Andrew gave us the option of going directly back to our cruise ship or to go by way of Evan's Pass Road along the bay which of course we opted for. It was beautiful! I can't thank Andrew enough for a wonderful day and for his enthusiasm which came through all day when he was showing us around. Andrew promised we would be back in time to catch the bus back to the pier and we were! I don't think that anyone can do justice to a city by visiting for only one day, and I wish we'd had more time, but this tour showed us the highlights of the city, and the best part is it was customized to our tastes. I would definitely do this tour with Andrew again so I could see the "rest of Christchurch"! I highly recommend Christchurch Tesla Tours!
Thanks Sonya, wow...what can we say in response to such a detailed and expressive review! We're absolutely thrilled you enjoyed the tour so much and loved the city as we do. I'm sure others will get a great feel for our city and this tour by reading your account of the day spent with us. Thanks again for this wonderful review and for choosing Tesla Tours in the first place, we appreciate it! Warmest Regards, Andrew
The chief and I have never been to Christchurch before but our cruise ship stopped here and we were lucky enough to have found Andrew and this tour! Andrew lives in Christchurch and is also a travel agent so not only does he know the area intimately he knows how to explain what we see to travelers. He took us to places that I am sure the cruise ship tours did not go. The city is beautiful and we saw all the sites, but we also went to some places you would not think were interesting like the library! It’s a must see. We also saw the hills, the beaches and the Māori places, but Andrew was able to explain how they all fit together. Do book if you get a chance!
Thank you Steve & Marcie. It was such a pleasure to host you and spend the day showing you the finer points of the city we absolutely love, here at Tesla Tours. I am thrilled that you appreciate it as much as we do. I hope we meet again one day....I'm sure we will. Best wishes for all your upcoming travel and thanks again for choosing Tesla Tours to show you around Christchurch.
Andrew and Bruce were very professional and enjoyable to deal with. Our private tour was outstanding and one of the highlights of our trip to New Zealand.
Thanks for your kind words Neil and we take great pleasure knowing the tour meant so much to you. As you know, Bruce is a great driver/guide and passionate about people and our city.
We were picked up on time and ready to go. Bruce was our tour guide. He was intimately familiar with the area and provided wonderful insight and customized the experience for us. Snacks and water included! We never felt rushed and were returned right on time.

Chris was a great guide! He was incredibly informative and personable and showed us everything there is to see in Christchurch and more. The tour was perfectly paced. We had time on our own for lunch in the Riverside Market, and got a real feel for the city. I highly recommend Chris and this tour.
Thanks for your kind words and glowing review, we appreciate it. Chris is a real asset and he'll be stoked to hear how much you got out of the day with him...he really is passionate about our beautiful city! Thanks again for choosing Tesla Tours and we hope to see you again one day.

Absolutely amazing, informative, and overall enjoyable exploration of Christchurch and surrounding neighborhoods with Chris. He was extremely knowledgeable and a great driver! We had Eco amount of walking and driving. Highly highly recommend.!
Thanks for your review Sandra and kind words about Chris, he really is an excellent driver and knowledgeable guide. We're glad he helped you make the most of your day in our beautiful city.
Chris, our guide, planned a day based on what we wanted to do. We went all over the city, water front, and beaches. We saw way more than we could have seen on our own. We had a little time to explore on our own at Riverside Market and eat lunch. He was very knowledgeable and was open to questions. The tour company could improve by answering questions; it was unclear where to meet them. I texted, emailed, and tried to call (number didn’t work). Our booking said Cruise ship berth, but you actually take a bus out of berth to Lyllleton. This caused some confusion and a little stress for me that morning, since I booked and everyone expected me to know where to go.
We're glad you enjoyed your tour with us Kim. Chris is a great driver/guide and very knowledgeable. Regarding the pick up, it's easier to explain it as the cruise ship berth, since no-one can leave the port by foot, you MUST take the courtesy shuttles into Lyttelton. In response to our comments about not contacting you, we did try txting you on the number you provided, since may people don't always have access to emails when they're cruising, but got no reply. Our number does work, many people have used it, but you do have to remember to put +64 in front of it, the same as with any international number you call.
Andrew was well informed very polite and knows a lot about his area. We had lots of nice views and the chocolate was delicious. Thank you 😊
Thanks for your kind feedback Birgit. You and your girls were a pleasure to host, shame about the weather but we can't control that...fortuntately it didn't detract from your overall enjoyment.
