Diego was our guide. He was extremely informative, not only about the food, but about the history of the country and culture. The tour of the market was fascinating, with Diego educating us as to what was on display, including traditional beverages, sweets, coffee, mescal, cheese, fruits, herbs and vegetables of the region. We were truly impressed with his depth of knowledge and his passion for his country and its people. Along the tour, Diego also pointed out other places of interest worth visiting. We ended the tour at a quaint eatery which was able to accommodate a vegetarian diet. We would highly recommend taking this tour and feel we now have a deeper understanding and appreciation of Oaxaca, its culture and its people.
Great afternoon with Angel as our guide. Super friendly and informative - great choices of where and what to eat. We are STUFFED! Would recommend to anyone who wants to know their tacos from their tostadas and see parts of the City you probably wouldn’t see on your own.
Diego was knowledgeable about Oaxaca and was able to explain things related to the Oaxacan culture extremely well. He tailored the tour to meet our interests. We ordered some fruit smoothies at the market, but otherwise we mostly walked to many historical sites. It was an enjoyable afternoon and an excellent learning experience.
We had a good tour with Pepe. He was very knowledgeable about all the Oaxacan foods and expertly led us through the Nov 21st market and through mezcal tastings. There was zero pressure to buy anything which was appreciated. The only reason for 4 not 5 stars was we were clear about having a vegetarian in the group but everything came with meat. Would definitely recommend.
Dear Traveller, Thank you for your feedback. We are delighted that you enjoyed your experience yesterday. Regarding your comment about being a vegetarian in your group, we strive to accommodate as many dietary preferences as possible. However, as mentioned in the tour description and title, this is a street food tour, and we may not always be able to accommodate every request.
Had a great time with Yesi learning about the pre and post Colombian history of the city. Highly recommend this experience for anyone coming to Oaxaca for the first time! Oh and all the food we tasted was excellent as well!
Ruth was very knowledgeable & tailored tour to our needs. I was traveling with 2 seniors & she accommodated frequent breaks & shopping stops. Food she chose was representative of Oaxacan street food. Her recommendation of La Red was the culinary highlight of our trip!
The tour was incredible. Oscar, my tour guide, was so friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about Oaxacan art and culture. He was also very funny :). This is a great tour for anyone who’s interested in exploring the parts of Oaxaca that appeal the most to them.
Oscar was our tour guide and did a phenomenal job. He's engaging, easy to talk to, and taught us so much about Oaxaca. He also has a lot of recommendations he's happy to share. Definitely recommend picking this tour to learn about the history and get to enjoy some great food!
Oscar was engaging, friendly, informative & his English is excellent. Doing it at 4pm was perfect for a happy hour timing with a meal followed by dessert with ice cream. Picked up some mole to take home too.
We booked this tour as a group tour but we got lucky since we were the only ones in the group therefore turned into a private tour. Our guide Pepe was fantastic ! He was knowledgeable, informative and most importantly passionate about sharing his knowledge and love for Oaxaca. It was far beyond the food tour - As we booked him on early part of our stay, we can take our knowledge and really enjoy what Oaxaca offers ! Strongly recommend requesting Pepe for the guide !
