Guanajuato came alive for us thanks to Fabricio. He showed us the city not just as a guide, but like a friend welcoming us to his hometown. We walked through colorful alleyways, learned stories hidden behind the architecture, and understood the history and heart of the city in a way we never could have on our own. If you want a tour that feels personal, authentic, and full of fascinating history—Fabricio is the one!
Our guide was delightful and very knowlegeable. We really enjoyed our tour. He was on time, knew the city well and gave a colorful tour of all the historic sites. He took us to a local restaurant which had the best meal of tthe vacation!
We had an amazing day with Fabricio. As a local he knew all of the ins and outs of Guanajuato and gave us a whirlwind overview! Highly recommend. He was so great as a resource for the rest of the trip that we used his services as a driver for the rest of the weekend as well.
Our "tour guide" was not a tour guide at all, but just a driver. He spoke no English and said about 2 words to us the entire day. He spoke so little English that he couldn't even answer basic questions, much less give an in depth tour and history of the area. He offered no guidance on where to eat for lunch, and took us to only one of the places that we were told we would see. Once we arrived in Guanajuato, we were completely on our own to figure everything out. When I complained to the tour company and asked for a refund, I was gaslit and told that he spoke English, but was a new tour guide and was "nervous." I don't know about you, but when I get nervous, I don't entirely forget how to speak the language I was hired to speak. This company is untrustworthy. Do not give them a dime.
We’re truly sorry that your experience did not meet expectations. We understand how important clear communication and a complete tour experience are, especially when traveling in a new place. We regret that the assigned guide was not able to provide the level of service you expected. While we do work with bilingual staff, there are occasions where nerves or unforeseen circumstances can affect performance. That said, we take your feedback seriously and are reviewing the matter internally to ensure this doesn’t happen again. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, and we’re committed to learning from it to improve.
Terrific tour! Our driver Carlos was great, very punctual, helpful and knowledgeable. Our guide Alex Puga was amazing. He is an accomplished local historian, excellent English speaker, with great knowledge of the area and lots of fun! Thank you for a wonderful day! Anita
Our guide, Fabricio, a Guanajuato native, picked us up right on time after contacting us ahead to confirm time and place. He was an excellent guide and teacher, and in Guanajuato he took us to the Diego Rivera Museum and the Museum of Mummies to start. We had the best Mexican meal at Los Huacales, and continued on to the high viewpoint, the Pipila, where we could see the whole city spread out before us. We walked or drove past the University, the Teatro Juarez, and other magnificent buildings and sites important to the culture and history of this amazing city. The 3 of us who participated all agreed that Fabri made the day special and fun. Our travel to Guanajuato from SMA and back (to a lesser extent) was slowed by pilgrims participating in the annual walk to San Jose de los lagos. Fabricio taught us about this event which occurs at the end of January each year and involves many thousands of devout pilgrims. So although it meant more stop-and-go for us, the pilgrimage gave us more insight into the local culture.
Daniel demonstrated an impressive depth of knowledge about the area, blending history, culture, and local anecdotes. What set him apart was his intuitive understanding of our group’s dynamic. We were a bit of a wandering bunch, easily distracted by unexpected sights and detours, yet he remained patient and flexible throughout. He skillfully adapted the itinerary on the go, ensuring we never felt rushed while still covering all the highlights.
The trip started a little frustrating. We were told we were going to be picked up by 10 AM, we waited in the lobby and nobody was showing up. The hotel representative tried calling the number that was on our voucher and the number was disconnected. I tried calling Trip advisory to get some help. All they could say is that they could confirm that the trip was booked. We needed to know if we had somebody coming to pick us up or not because we had already waited for an hour. The representative could not get a hold of the company either. We waited a bit longer and finally decided to call and cancel our trip. As soon as I hung up the phone with the representative, the driver pulled up. And at the same time, I got a call from the tour company saying that the driver they had originally contracted had stomach issues and could not make it so at the last minute they got Fernando. After all this, Fernando gave us the tour that we paid for. It was a wonderful tour wonderful site. He had a lot of knowledge. The actual tour was a great experience and we would totally do it again. The only complaint we have is that we were not notified earlier that it was going to take longer to pick us up. If we would’ve known this would’ve not been such a nightmare.
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We sincerely apologize for the frustration and lack of communication at the start of your trip. While unforeseen situations can arise, we should have notified you promptly about the delay to avoid the confusion and inconvenience you experienced. We’re glad to hear that Fernando provided a wonderful tour and that the overall experience was positive once it got underway. Your comments are invaluable in helping us improve our communication and service in the future.
We had a lot of fun exploring Guanajuato. Our guide was very friendly and a great driver. I wouldn’t recommend him for guests who don’t speak any Spanish because his English is limited.

Really enjoyed the mummy museum as well as the tunnel system in Guanajuato. Also, learned a lot about the mines in and around town.
