Itinéraire
Tout d'abord, nous allons à Matera à partir de votre logement pour explorer la riche histoire de la ville et des paysages magnifiques. Ici, je vais partager des histoires sur l'évolution de la ville et sa transformation d'un symbole de pauvreté à un site du patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO. Nous commencerons par les anciens quartiers de Sassi, où je vous conduirai à travers le labyrinthe d'habitations troglodytiques et de ruelles. Vous découvrirez comment ces grottes étaient autrefois des maisons, des églises et même des monastères, donnant un aperçu de la façon dont les gens ont vécu ici pendant des milliers d'années. Pour mieux comprendre la vie dans les Sassi, nous allons visiter une "Casa Grotta", une maison troglodytique restaurée meublée comme elle l'aurait été il y a des siècles. À la fin, je vous laisse du temps libre. Après, nous irons à Alberobello.
Une fois arrivés à Alberobello, nous commençons notre visite par visiter cette ville fabuleuse, connue pour ses maisons emblématiques Trulli. Nous explorerons deux quartiers incroyables appelés Aia Piccola et Rione Monti. La première est une zone plus calme avec moins de touristes, où certains Trulli sont encore utilisés comme maisons privées. Le second est considéré comme plus touristique, et pourtant, il a des rues très pittoresques et décorées bordées de centaines de Trulli - les habitations signatures de la ville blanchies à la chaux et au toit conique. Nous allons visiter une des maisons trullo afin de mieux comprendre la construction de celle-ci et comment les gens pourraient y vivre. En outre, nous visiterons l'église unique, dédiée à saint Antoine de Padoue, construite dans le style trullo, qui se marie parfaitement avec l'architecture environnante. À la fin, je vous donnerai du temps libre pour que vous puissiez en profiter seul, après quoi nous retournerons à votre logement.

Our tour was excellent and was made more interesting as Yurii our guide took us to unique places in each town. Yurii's knowledge and explanations helped us understand the local history and the way each area developed to become what they are today. Thoroughly recommend this tour.
We had an excellent tour to Alberobello and Matera with Yurii as our guide. His communication was AMAZING before the day of the trip as well as during the tour. He is a fountain of knowledge about what we would see prior to our stops as well as during the tours. He was incredibly patient in providing the slow walking pace that was needed for my elderly sister in law as well as my husband who had a foot injury. Matera is extremely hilly and Yurii made the tour as gentle on them as possible. I cannot recommend him enough!!

I started communicating with Graziano Months in advance for my Italian dream of spending a month in Italy. I had originally planned the trip to the Puglia region based on pictures I had seen of Alberobello, so I found a Graziano last summer that I stayed in touch with him. Very communicative Graziano suggested a quick trip to Alberobello and then to Matera …and I have learned to trust the locals. As we traveled he shared about the many olive groves in the area…and we could see the vast fields of Olive Trees…but he wanted us to see one of the oldest trees. Over 1000 years old. Yes..1000! We stopped for a tasting and bought some delicious almonds. Simply spectacular visit. Well…let me tell you, he is one of the very best tour guides we have ever had!!! Simply amazing. His love and passion for Matera became obvious very early in our journey. And enclosed are the photos from Matera and Alberobello. We loved Alberobello…Matera is a sight to behold and takes your breath away at every turn When I saw my first sight of the caves in Matera…my first thought was…this must be what it looked like when Jesus walked the earth. And then I learned that the Passion of Christ had been filmed here… It was breathtaking and not a place we can ever forget. We are already plotting our next trip this beautiful coastal area. This is where the Passion of Christ was filmed years ago..and now the sequel “The Resurrection” is currently being filmed. We didn’t run into Mel Gibson, but he was there. We did see the film stage and film crew. I cannot recommend this tour enough!! 1000 stars!
This tour was the perfect combination of a private driver and a guided experience, and it exceeded our expectations. We began in Alberobello, where Yurii guided us through the trulli districts, sharing insight into their unique construction and history while also giving us time to explore independently, take photos, and truly enjoy the atmosphere. From there, we continued on to Matera, where Yurii provided excellent historical context as we explored the Sassi. He allowed us to move at a relaxed, unhurried pace, encouraging us to take our time and fully absorb the beauty and history of this extraordinary city. His explanations added depth and meaning to what we were seeing. One of the things we appreciated most was the flexibility of the day. Yurii even accommodated a lunch stop, making the experience feel personalized rather than rigid or rushed. This tour struck a wonderful balance between expert guidance and freedom, with the comfort of a private driver throughout. Travel through the countryside to 2 important historical sites. The Trulli were interesting and Matera was magical. Our guide Graziano was very knowledgeable and gave us insight all along our ride. I wish we had more time in Matera as there was so much history and so much to see. It was wonderful to be there late day and after sundown.
We had a great private tour of Alberobello and Matera with Yuri. He is very knowledgeable about both sites and tailored our visits to what we were interested in seeing and where we wanted to spend most of our time. Yuri is very personable and a most excellent tour guide. We truly enjoyed our time with him and highly recommend this tour.

This tour checked all the boxes! Yurii was a fantastic guide - he took us to each place we wanted to see and even more! And, being older and requiring extra time, he was quite patient with us and helpful with the ancient stairways!
