Lors de cette visite spéciale, nous quitterons Siem Reap pour aller au temple Preah Vihear de la province de Preah Vihear. Preah Vihear a été construit au sommet d'une falaise de 525 mètres d'altitude séparant les frontières du Cambodge et de la Thaïlande. Il donne la meilleure vue sur la forêt et les villages. Après avoir visité le temple Preah Vihear, nous nous dirigerons vers le groupe de temples de Koh Ker. Le temple le plus célèbre de Koh Ker est le Prasat Thom, un temple de forme phyramidique de 30 m, qui surplombe la plaine et la forêt environnante. Enfin, nous irons à Beng Mealea, qui signifie Lotus Pond en anglais. On pense que le temple est la soeur d'Angkor Vat pour son modèle similaire. Le temple est en grande partie non restauré avec de grands arbres et d’épaisses broussailles poussant au sommet de la tour. Une fois la visite terminée, nous vous ramènerons à votre hôtel ou à tout autre endroit de la ville de Siem Reap.

Le temple Peah Vihear est un temple khmer situé au sommet d'une falaise de 525 mètres d'altitude dans les montagnes de Dangrek, dans la province de Preah Vihear au nord du Cambodge et à la frontière du district de Kantharalak (amphoe) dans la province de Sisaket, dans l'est de la Thaïlande. En 1962, à la suite d'un long conflit entre la Thaïlande et le Cambodge sur la propriété, une cour à la majorité de la Cour internationale de justice (CIJ) de La Haye a cédé le temple au Cambodge. Prasat Preah Vihear offre un panorama des plus spectaculaires de tous les temples construits au cours des six siècles d’empire Khmer. Édifice clé de la vie spirituelle de l'empire, il a été soutenu et modifié par les rois successifs. Il comporte donc des éléments de plusieurs styles architecturaux. Preah Vihear est inhabituel parmi les temples khmers en raison de sa construction le long d'un grand axe nord-sud, plutôt que d'avoir le plan rectangulaire conventionnel orienté vers l'est. Le temple a donné son nom à la province de Preah Vihear au Cambodge, dans laquelle il se trouve maintenant, ainsi qu'au parc national de Khao Phra Wihan qui la borde dans la province de Sisaket en Thaïlande et à travers lequel le temple est le plus facilement accessible. Le 7 juillet 2008, Preah Vihear a été inscrit au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO. Le groupe Koh Ker, situé dans la province de Preah Vihear, fut brièvement la capitale de l'empire khmer entre 928 et 944 sous le roi Jayavarman IV et son fils Hasavaraman II. Après la création de l'empire khmer dans la région d'Angkor (Roluos), Jayavarman IV a déplacé la capitale en 928, à près de 100 km au nord-est de Koh Ker. Sous son règne, de nombreux temples ont été construits jusqu'à son retour dans la région d'Angkor environ vingt ans plus tard. Le site de Koh Ker est dominé par Prasat Thom, une montagne-temple de 30 mètres de haut qui surplombe la plaine et la forêt environnante. Une vue magnifique attend le visiteur à la fin d'une ascension aventureuse. Garuda, sculpté dans les blocs de pierre, garde toujours le sommet, bien qu'ils soient partiellement couverts maintenant. Sur le site de Koh Ker, il y a de nombreux sanctuaires de prasat ou de tour. Un couple possède encore un énorme linga sur un yoni qui offre de la place pour plusieurs personnes. On peut voir le débouché de l'eau sanctifiée par le Linga sur le mur extérieur de l'un d'eux. Dans d'autres cas, trois prasats se tiennent côte à côte, dédiés à Brahma, Shiva et Vishnu. La plupart d'entre eux sont entourés de bibliothèques et de clôtures, beaucoup ont également des douves. A cette époque, les toits étaient encore en bois. Aujourd'hui, il ne reste que les trous pour les poutres dans les structures en pierre.
Temple Beng Mealea (son nom signifie "étang de lotus") situé au pied de la montagne Kulen. Il a été construit comme un temple hindouiste, mais certaines sculptures illustrent des motifs bouddhistes. Son matériau principal est le grès et il est en grande partie non restauré, avec des arbres et des broussailles épaisses se développant au milieu de ses tours et cours et de nombreuses pierres situées en tas. Pendant des années, il était difficile à atteindre, mais une route récemment construite menant au complexe de temples de Koh Ker passe par Beng Mealea et de plus en plus de visiteurs se rendent sur le site. Construit au 12ème siècle, de nombreux érudits pensent que c'était le modèle pour Angkor Wat. C'est tout aussi merveilleux un temple mais il est encore largement perdu dans la jungle. Retour à votre hôtel et fin du circuit entre 17h00 et 18h00.

We had booked a private tour to Ko Ker and Beng Mealea. Due to the border disputes we were unfortunately unable to visit Preah Vihear. Nevertheless, thanks to the tour guide Youk and our driver San, we had a very eventful and very informative day. Our tour guide always knew about the best photo subjects and took great photos. Our driver provided us all day with cool drinks and cold towels; great service. Big compliments and thanks to both, they did a great job and brought us closer to their country and culture. We can highly recommend both.
Thean was very knowledgeable and made the tour fun. It was a long day, but he really tied in the history to make the sights make more sense. Excellent job and the driver, Sreang, was super great too!
First of all, don't make the same mistake I did. Just because Angkor Wat takes credit cards, doesn't mean that Preah Vihear or Koh Ker do. Cash is required! Thankfully my guide was able to help me get that situation sorted, otherwise it would have been a terrible day. As it was, the temples were amazing and our guide, Saruon Pal, was knowledgeable and engaging and helped make it one of the most memorable days of our trip.
Amazing day visiting Preah Vihear - a temple on a Cambodia-Thailand border, inscribed onto UNESCO World Heritage List. Plus two other temples located at a distance from Angkor area. Bun Hak is a great guide. We learnt from him a lot on Cambodian ancient and recent history, contemporary politics and culture. He also showed us a great number of hidden treasures in the temples that we visited- we wouldn’t be able to find them without him. The trip truly exceeded our expectations. Ancient and very recent history (Preah Vihear); Mayan-like pyramid (Koh Ker) and one of the most beautiful and climatic temples in the jungle (Beng Mealea). It all of that just in one day. Don’t just sit in Siem Reap and it’s vicinity. Go to the neighbouring provinces and discover the beauty of Cambodia beyond Angkor.
We are a Japanese/Italian couple on their honeymoon. The three temples we visited were all stunning, I really couldn’t say which one I liked the most. Preah Vihear is definitely worth waking up early and the long drive to the border with Thailand for the magnificent scenery. Our driver and tour guide, BunHak, were really kind and very knowledgeable about the history and temples of Cambodia. He was happy to answer all our questions and show us the best places to take pictures. Thank you very much, I hope to meet you again someday!
Saruon was the best guide ever and his English was so perfect. He was also a very skilled photographer. Soeang was our driver and his driving was so smooth and steady so we had a really comfortable ride all day. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who got come to Siem Reap. Cheers!
Mr Pal and the driver were so kind! Pal-san was funny, explained in detail and took a lot of photos. He came to the front of the hotel at 5am, where we met again in the morning, and arrived at the ruins at 8am as planned! I learned a lot from seeing various ruins. The driver drove very well and it was a comfortable trip!
I’m very glad I chose this tour. If you have one day, I strongly recommend this tour, get out the dusty, noisy city centre and enjoy fresh air and spectacular view in silence from top of the mountain, where you also see Thai border. Temples you see in this tour are very different from what you can see near Angkor Wat area. On the way to Preah Vihear, I saw amazing sunrise from the car. The guide Sok Chea and the driver were really nice and looked after me very well. Guide is very knowledgeable and made the trip very meaningful. Sok Chea speaks good English and is very professional. He also took many good pictures for me. The food they ordered in lunch was also good. Make sure you wear closed walking/sports shoes (not sandal) as you walk in mountain (it’s easy walk) This tour is worth for the price.
I came across the organizer here at TripAdvisor. Communication was straightforward. My request and all emails were answered promptly. The communication was in English - as was the communication during the excursion. The hotel pickup was on time and the quite long drive to the Preah Vihear was quick. The driver, Mr. Makara, drove very quickly but always safely. My guide, Mr.Vanna, was very open-minded and friendly. He accompanied me through all the temple complexes, explained the historical background and readily gave answers to my questions. The communication was excellent, to understand his English very well - I had other experiences there as well. The whole day trip was very entertaining and I liked it very much. Especially since these temples are located off the beaten path and were correspondingly under-visited. I can only recommend this trip but also the agency!
This tour was one of the highlights in our trip, and I strongly recommend it if you don't mind the early start. Visits to those temples were a completely different experience than those in the Angkor main area, as they were less crowed. Both our guide and driver were excellent. Mr Sok Chea, the tour guide, was very knowledged, friendly and open with information, not only about history and the temples, but also about customs and daily live of present Cambodia. Car was very comfortable and our driver make sure to drive it safely. We were really happy to have made the decision of taking this tour.
