Description
Salut!!!

We had an amazing day in Rio. Bernard spoke great English, knows the city super well and took us to the top places! We stopped for lunch at a good spot with a great view as well. It was definitely worth it. We saw so much more than we would have on our own. We felt safe and learned a ton! We would hire him again for sure! Thanks Bernard for a great day in Rio!
If you are looking for the best private tour guide in Rio de Janeiro, hire Bernard. He was absolutely incredible and completely transformed our work/vacation trip into an unforgettable experience. He customized the entire tour around what we wanted to see, our schedule, and even adjusted throughout the day based on the weather. We saw Christ the Redeemer, hiked through Tijuca National Park and the jungle, saw monkeys, explored local areas, and learned so much about Rio from someone who actually grew up here. What made Bernard exceptional was not just his knowledge of Rio de Janeiro, but how patient and responsive he was. He answered countless questions, both during the tour and later through WhatsApp, and gave us amazing local recommendations the entire trip. He helped us understand what life is really like in this beautiful tropical city and shared insights you would never get on a large group tour. He also knew exactly where to go and how to navigate the city efficiently, which allowed us to avoid long waits and maximize our time. We got all the benefits of being tourists without the stress and hassle of a crowded group experience. Everything felt personal, smooth, and tailored specifically to us. We packed a tremendous amount into a short trip thanks to Bernard, and I would recommend him to absolutely anyone visiting Rio. One of the best guides I have ever worked with anywhere in the world.
Bernard picked us up from our hotel and we had a lovely day visiting Christ the Redeemer, the Steps , the Cathedral and around that area . We decided not to get the tram up to Santa Teresa as the queue was too long so we drove up there and had a lovely meal in a nice restaurant with great views . The weather wasn’t great but we managed to do alot . He is a really nice guy , very knowledgable and flexible so we adapted to the weather etc on the day . He is great on restaurant recommendations too as he is from Rio so a local . We would thoroughly recommend him as a tour guide . He even loaned us his umbrellas! Brits abroad 😬
Bernard was a fabulous Guide and we visited places that we wouldn't be er have found on our own. We had a very busy day but it was so well organised by Bernard and the transport was good. A super day enjoyed by us all. Would highly recommend.
My parents and I booked Bernard for a 5-hour tour split across two days. Since my parents are in their 70s, I was very intentional about finding a guide who could show us the historical highlights of Rio and keep a comfortable pace. Bernard didn’t meet our expectations....he far exceeded them. From the very beginning, he was incredibly open to our ideas and transparent about what would work best for us. He worked with me weeks in advance to thoughtfully design an itinerary that showcased the beauty and history of Rio without ever feeling rushed. His deep knowledge of the city was clear from the moment we met him. As someone who grew up in Rio, he could answer even our most detailed questions with ease and enthusiasm. Bernard was consistently mindful of the pace, especially during walking portions, and he planned the timing of each stop perfectly. He even adjusted which days we visited certain attractions based on the weather so we could have the best experience possible. His communication throughout the entire process was fast, organized, and extremely helpful. He sent the initial itinerary within just a few hours, checked in regularly, and his English is excellent. Overall, you would truly be missing out on an amazing guide if you don’t book with Bernard. He is professional, knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely cares about creating the best experience for his guests. Thank you, Bernard, for helping us fall in love with Rio. With love, from Canada!
We had the absolute pleasure of spending two unforgettable days in Rio de Janeiro with our phenomenal tour guide, Bernard. He is not only incredibly knowledgeable, but also highly educated, with a psychology degree and the rare talent of speaking three language, Portuguese, English, and French with total ease. From start to finish, Bernard curated our experience with impeccable taste, He introduced us to the soul of Rio, sharing historical details, cultural context, and thoughtful commentary everywhere we went. He took us to all the iconic sites, including Christ the Redeemer, with the stunning Sugarloaf Mountain and Rio’s extraordinary modern cathedral, the Metropolitan Cathedral of São Sebastião, built in 1978, with unique architecture and spectacular floor to ceiling stained-glass walls. Our experience continued with the breathtaking Tijuca National Park, the serene Botanical Gardens, beautiful mountain trails, and the refreshing waterfall tucked inside the lush forest. We also visited the world famous Escadaria Selarón, with its vibrant and colorful mosaic tiles and more… Bernard worked seamlessly with excellent and very professional bus drivers, making our journey smooth and comfortable at every moment. We learned so much, saw so much, and most importantly, felt deeply cared for throughout the experience. Bernard is truly exceptional—a guide who combines education, cultural passion, and heart. We could not recommend him more highly. Bernard deserves 5 stars! Sincerely The Captain!
We booked Bernard before arriving in Rio and asked him to show us Christ the Redeemer and Tijulca Forest. Bernard picked us up early in the morning and spent the majority of the day with us. He was brilliant - very calm and explained things in nigh on perfect English. He took us to a lovely little cafe and showed us all the things we wanted to, explaining everything as we went. We asked so many questions about so many things, but he answered them all. Highly recommend
It is the second time I take this tour with Bernard and just like the first time just SPECTACULAR!!!! Bernard is kind and very passionate about his work and his love of Rio infects you with Carioca joy. If you go to Rio do not hesitate to take this tour with him.
We did two full days with Bernard and our two boys (ages 14 & 11) and it couldn’t have been better. Bernard was great with pre-trip communication and helping organize the best two days. We moved our visits to Christ and Sugarloaf to day 2 due to weather (clouds/rain) and it was definitely the right call…he also helped us get the right tickets to avoid long lines (it also helps to be with a guide to avoid lines). Our tour of Santa Theresa and downtown were really fun as well….with Bernard sharing a mix of personal stories and history. Lunches both days were yummy and at local spots we wouldn’t jot have found without Bernard. Don’t hesitate if you are going to Rio, Bernard is your man!!
I was in Rio de Janeiro from 11th to 17th July 2025 for a media summit and had two free days. I arranged a one-and-a-half-day tour with Bernard — and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of my trip. Bernard is a superb planner. In just a short time, he managed to show me all the major attractions of Rio, including hidden gems I wouldn’t have discovered on my own. He is incredibly knowledgeable — whether it’s Brazil’s history, culture, or economy, he shares insights with clarity and enthusiasm. Warm, pleasant, and highly professional, Bernard made the experience both enjoyable and enriching. His English is excellent, which made communication smooth and easy. Whether you’re a solo traveler or visiting with a small group, I highly recommend Bernard as your guide in Rio. You’ll be in good hands. An added bonus - he is a great photographer! He captures the best of me in every picture.
