La Vallée des Rois est l'un des sites archéologiques les plus importants au monde et un site du patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO. Cachée dans les falaises désertiques de la Cisjordanie de Louxor, cette nécropole royale fut la dernière demeure des pharaons du Nouvel Empire (1550-1070 av. Ici, plus de 60 tombes royales ont été découvertes, appartenant à des souverains légendaires tels que Ramsès II, Seti I et Toutankhamon. Chaque tombe est joliment décorée avec des peintures murales aux couleurs vives et des inscriptions du Livre des Morts, conçues pour Guide le roi dans son voyage vers l'au-delà. Pick up from our hotel was on time and we were warmly greeted by the guide and driver. The car was spacious and clean. Our guide provided detailed explanations of every temple and tomb we visited giving us very interesting insights into ancient Egyptian religion and the various pharaohs and their relationships with each other. The statues, temple designs and hieroglyphics were all described very clearly, bringing the stories described by the wall paintings to life. A thoroughly enjoyable tour with a very knowledgeable and entertaining guide. Note that the temple and tomb visits require a lot of walking and stairs/ramps which are a challenge for persons with reduced mobility.
