Curzon Hall est un monument en briques du début du XXe siècle situé à Shahbagh, dans le campus de l'Université de Dacca. Commandé à l'origine comme hôtel de ville, sa première pierre a été posée par Lord Curzon en 1904 et le bâtiment a été achevé en 1908. Depuis 1921, la salle abrite la faculté des sciences. Son architecture indo-saracéenne présente une fusion gracieuse de styles moghol et européen – avec des coupoles, des arcs en fer à cheval et en cuspide, des tourelles ornées, des avant-toits profonds et de charmantes vérandas. Au-delà de son rôle académique, Curzon Hall a joué un rôle central dans l’histoire du Bangladesh : il a été un centre de protestation pendant le Mouvement de la langue bengali (1948-1956), où les étudiants ont condamné les tentatives d’imposer l’ourdou comme seule langue d’État. Entouré de pelouses verdoyantes, d'un jardin botanique, de terrains de jeux et d'un étang historique, le Curzon Hall offre un environnement calme et pittoresque au milieu du campus animé.
Shaheed Minar (Monument des martyrs) à Dacca est un puissant symbole national honorant ceux qui ont perdu la vie pendant le Mouvement de la langue bengali en février 1952. Ces jours-là, des étudiants et des militants de l'Université de Dacca et du Collège médical de Dacca ont été abattus alors qu'ils réclamaient pacifiquement que le bengali soit reconnu comme langue d'État. Le monument actuel, haut d’environ 14 mètres, comporte des colonnes de marbre planantes disposées en demi-cercle – symbolisant une mère éplorée avec ses enfants tombés au combat – avec un disque rouge saisissant derrière. Des escaliers blancs et des rampes lui donnent un aspect solennel, presque divin, tandis que des lignes de poésie en fer inscrites ornent les clôtures. À l'intérieur, des sols en marbre et un grand panneau mural au sous-sol racontent l'histoire du mouvement.
Le fort de Lalbagh est un complexe de fort moghol incomplet du XVIIe siècle qui se dresse devant la rivière Buriganga dans la partie sud-ouest de Dhaka, au Bangladesh. The guide provided me with a great introduction to Dhaka and it's history and origins with his vast knowledge of the city. He took me to several important sites in Old Dhaka explaining the significance of each in some detail. He was happy to answer any questions I had about Dhaka. Also he was interested in where I came from and why I had chosen to visit Bangladesh. A worthwhile tour which I am happy to recommend.

We really only visited two of the sights; the other ones we saw only from the outside and after it got dark. I think it's probably impossible to do this tour in half a day and the guide, although well intentioned, couldn't manage the time adequately in a city with Dhaka's traffic.

I booked the tour last minutes, however, everything was organized and planned well, on time pick up，my guide Shahadat is accommodating and explain the places well. I’ve learned the history of Bangladesh along this tour, would recommend if you have one day to spare in Dhaka.

Our tour was initially postponed by one hour and suddenly canceled 15 minutes before the start. We checked with our hotel concierge, and some places on the list were closed and shouldn’t be even proposed. This was a huge disappointment.

Visited lots of places in Old Dhaka. Such an amazing place with narrow streets and authentic buildings. Fantastic driver and guide who did everything to show the highlights of the Bangladeshi capital. I recommend this tour. Easy commucation, punctual pick up and great stops.
