La basilique de Marie-Majeure, également connue sous le nom de Notre-Dame des Neiges, abrite la crèche de l'enfant Jésus, est la plus grande église de Marie à Rome. Ensuite, vous pourrez voir Saint-Jean de Latran, la cathédrale de Rome qui a le siège de l'évêque de Rome, et Saint-Paul hors des murs. Dans la basilique de la Sainte Croix, vous verrez de nombreuses reliques de la Passion du Christ, y compris des morceaux de la couronne d'épines et la croix réelle de Jésus. Itinéraire
Votre premier arrêt est la basilique de la Sainte Croix à Jérusalem. Un cadeau de Constantin Ier à sa mère Hélène, qui a construit une petite chapelle pour abriter les reliques de la Sainte Croix qu'elle a trouvées à Jérusalem et transportées à Rome. Plus tard cette petite chapelle, à l'origine basilique Eleniana, est devenue la grande basilique qu'elle est aujourd'hui. Cette basilique est également l'une des étapes de l'itinéraire des «7 Églises» que les pèlerins faisaient à pied pendant la Semaine Sainte.
Ensuite, arrêtez-vous à la cathédrale de Rome et au siège du pape lui-même. L'Archbasilica de Saint-Jean de Latran est l'église la plus importante du monde et la plus ancienne! C'est l'une des 4 basiliques papales de Rome, et c'était la résidence d'origine des papes jusqu'au 14ème siècle.
Ensuite, vous verrez la basilique qui aurait été commandée par la Bienheureuse Vierge Marie elle-même! Elle est apparue au pape Liberius et à un patricien romain, Giovanni, leur disant qu'elle souhaitait qu'une église soit construite en son honneur. Le 5 août, la Sainte Mère a envoyé une chute de neige miraculeuse, qui s'est posée sur la colline Esquiline et a tracé le tracé de l'église! C'est ainsi qu'elle lui a valu le nom de "Dame des Neiges", et la basilique abrite aujourd'hui la crèche de l'enfant Christ.
Votre dernier arrêt sera St. Paul's Outside the Walls. Situé à la périphérie de l'ancien mur aurélien, le lieu de sépulture de Saint-Paul était à l'origine un petit bâtiment commémoratif appelé Cella Memoriae. Cependant, Constantin I a commandé une basilique plus grande à construire au sommet de la Cella Memoriae pour honorer Saint Paul. Il a été démoli et reconstruit à plusieurs reprises, subissant de nombreuses restaurations et agrandissements. C'était la plus grande église de Rome jusqu'à la construction de Saint-Pierre.

I reach out to Europe Odsessey for multiple tours because thoroughly enjoyed them last year in Rome/ Vatican. We did holy churches without a luxury car- Michael was also very knowledgeable, professional, and kind shown us all the beautiful baroque churches while not everyone is a big fan of visiting churches, I genuinely appreciated all the effort he put into the tour experiences. All of the tours were wonderful, and I really appreciate how smoothly everything was organized. It truly felt like the best of Europe. Mirella was incredibly informative and knowledgeable about the arts in Florence. She easily brought me to places that I was curious about- Kaws exhibit, wine in the hole, and the santa maria novella perfume. And Irene in Paris was fantastic as well; she took us to some beautiful churches(Miraculous medal) also went above and beyond for an additional stop at roland garros- and shared so much insight. Rick Steves was right—I’m so glad we chose this company again for our tours! Thank you for making everything easy and enriching for my dad and my uncle. making everything so accomodating for us. What an amazing time! European Odyssey went out of their way to schedule our church tour at a good time - such amazing communication! They accommodated our schedule and worked around local events. Our driver was punctual at 8:30 and picked us up in a nice Mercedes. We met our guide at the first church. Justin was very knowledgeable and never rushed us. Both the driver and guide were exceptional.
