We chose Big Bus Tours based on the excellent reputation, but unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. We waited 35 minutes for the bus, despite the advertised frequency, and when it finally arrived, it was so overcrowded that we couldn’t even get seats. For a sightseeing tour, where the whole point is to enjoy the views comfortably, this is simply unacceptable. We paid for a premium sightseeing experience, not to stand in a packed bus after a long wait. Better capacity management and more frequent buses are clearly needed, especially during the tourist season. Very disappointing experience. I would not choose this company again.
We were a very disappointed with our hop on/off experience in Budapest. 50% of the time the commentary did not work and therefore we did not receive any cultural information about the highlighted spots along the route. In addition, it made it very difficult to know where to get off. It would help if at least there was some indication on the bus, other than the commentary, which of the numbered stops you were approaching.
Do not waste your $. It was extremely hot and crowded even though I specifically asked if the buses would get full - told no - tourists don’t come in the heat. Yes they do, It was stiflingly hot in the bus and the top had no shade. Too many people. The audio would say on your right when in fact it could be on the left? Walk around it is cooler. I do not recommend at all. Felt like I have been ripped off bigtime. We got on the bus and 2 stops later the bus drivers says he has to wait at this stop for 15 minutes. This isn’t hop on hop off. Couldn’t wait to disembark which we did as soon as we hit the city again. Could be so much better.
What a joke. They dropped us off at stop 9 this morning and it was at a different stop due to there being an event at Heroes Square. I asked the ‘rude’ ticket operator would they definitely be at that stop this afternoon to which he replied yes! The bus never turned up in the afternoon. Apparently there were planned road closures. No message. No ticket operator. Nothing. I paid for a 2 day pass and only got one day and one quick hop on off this morning. So they took my money whilst knowing I wouldn’t be getting 2 days. My mum is 84 so it was challenging trying to work out what to do. They could have easily put a ticket operator there to at least stop people waiting for a bus that will never arrive. I called - no answer. I emailed and they said they will give me another day! Not the point and we go home tomorrow. Be wary of them

Didn’t have to wait too long for buses. Took us everywhere we wanted to go. Reasonable distance between stops.

Bus was packed ..standing room only on every stop. Could not see over people standing to see other side. No one on board to monitor number of people..audio went out on two stops . Have used hop on and hop off with Viator at other cities and they were great..very disappointed and would have asked for a refund.

This is the best way to see the city. We sat up top and the breeze and city views were great. We went around twice and switched to the other side of the bus to get different views.

The bus is supposed to come every 15min we regularly waited 45mins and were crowded.

Never could find a pickup point. Maps was not accurate. There was no clearly marked bus stops around the city. We saw 1.
