Booked this trip and Al the tour guide was a NO SHOW. I had to call there to ask where they were. He made an excuse that he couldn’t get downtown for the tour. Who runs tours and doesn’t have their own transportation?? Said he would call me back with a time he could get there. An hour later and numerous attempts to call back ( he then wouldnt answer) I told the receptionist at our hotel. She tried to call and suddenly he picked up! He told her he was having a tough morning ( something about bank fraud) and couldn’t get there. This threw off our entire day’s plans! She said we wanted our money back. Never got our money back. I called him for 2 days after that. No call back. I then found a way I could request my money back through Viator. He finally texted saying he was having trouble locating where he could click to “ refund” me. Many days later I still don’t have my refund. Do yourself a favor and book Bull Dog tours. They were much more reliable, showed up right on time, and were wonderful. I should not have to pay for a tour never given. I should not have to waste my time trying ( so far unsuccessfully) to get my refund. Michael T would be very disappointed to know what has happened to this company. DON’T USE!

Le Old Exchange and Provost (1771) a été construit pour percevoir les tarifs et les frais au port. Bâtiment d'importance nationale, c'est ici que la Caroline du Sud a déclaré son indépendance en 1776. Les Britanniques l'ont utilisée comme prison de 1780 à 1782, la Constitution y a été ratifiée et le père George Washington a été diverti en 1791.
Cette rangée de bâtiments du XVIIIe siècle de style géorgien et jacobéen donnait sur les quais du port. Dans les années 1930, les bâtiments délabrés ont été restaurés en résidences et constituent peut-être la première entreprise réussie du mouvement de préservation de Charleston.
La plus ancienne église de Charleston (1761) est pratiquement intacte dans sa conception du XVIIIe siècle. Certaines fenêtres présentent des vitraux de Louis Tiffany and Company. Deux signataires de la Constitution sont enterrés dans le cimetière. Notamment, les cloches des églises ont traversé cinq fois l'océan Atlantique !

La plus ancienne congrégation, fondée en 1680. Des personnalités nationales, dont un signataire de la Déclaration d'indépendance et un signataire de la Constitution, reposent dans le cimetière. St Philip's vénère ce site depuis 1723.
Cette congrégation tient son culte au même endroit depuis 1681. L'église des Coloniaux possède de belles pierres tombales en ardoise du XVIIIe siècle.
Construit pour abriter la poudre à canon en 1713, c'est la plus ancienne structure à usage public entre St Augustine et Williamsburg.

Le plus ancien lieu de divertissement de Charleston, c'était à l'origine une taverne. Certaines sources le datent dès 1686. Son nom ne dérive pas du travail de peinture rose, mais plutôt de la roche de corail audacieusement rose dont il est construit.
Ce bâtiment unique a été construit spécifiquement pour le stockage de la poudre à canon. Les murs ont une épaisseur de brique de 35 pouces, mais les plafonds voûtés n'ont que 2 briques d'épaisseur dans le haut, conçus pour exploser et ne pas s'éteindre en cas d'exposition. Ce musée militaire colonial est exploité par les Dames coloniales depuis 1905.

Owner canceled the tour less than 45 minutes before the start; his only saving grace was he told me about another tour company and the guide was awesome, so I felt like it maybe it was meant to be and it was a better experience in the end!
Our guide was great and catered our tour to what we were most interested in.
Great way to learn fun facts and places to explore. Guide was knowledgeable and had a great personality.
Al was a wonderful guide around historic Charleston. We ended up with a private tour due to impending weather and he was willing to modify the tour to our interests and also avoid wind and pending rain. This was the first activity for us in Charleston and it was a great way to start our trip. Al was a wealth of information and shared stories with humor and enthusiasm. We would recommend Al and Charleston Footprints Walking Tours to anyone wanting to familiarize themselves with this charming town.
Al was fantastic. We were only in Charleston for one full day, and his tour was really the highlight of our trip. He was incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and friendly. As a native Charlestonian and a tour guide for nearly 50 years, he knows the history of this town like the back of his hand. He took his time walking us through the most beautiful neighborhoods; I think he even spent an extra half hour with us! I highly recommend Al and the tour!
Tour was cancelled and we weren’t notified. We’ve since spoken w the organizer who was apologetic and promised us a refund. Hope he’s honest.

The guide has not come, absolute disappointment

A fantastic tour from start to finish. The guide’s depth of knowledge was impressive, and the historical insights were fascinating. Highly recommended for anyone with an interest in history.
Neither of us enjoyed the guide. I think his name is Al, When he showed up we thought he was a homeless person. He was not dressed professionally, had a dirty jacket and cap. He was hard to understand, and it wasn’t just his accent. He tried too hard to be funny and entertaining, he was neither. The other folks on the tour also did not seem to get into him. We did cover a good amount of sights. He seemed knowledgeable. We did not tip, which was a first for me. I didn’t notice anyone else tip him either
