Description
Une visite à pied de la ville qui vous fera découvrir Podgorica, la capitale du Monténégro, et son centre administratif, culturel et économique. La zone plus large est habitée depuis l'âge de pierre, mais son histoire urbaine commence avec l'arrivée des Romains au IIe siècle av. Datant de la période des guerres illyro-romaines, Podgorica a toujours été au carrefour des voyageurs grecs, des légionnaires romains, des messagers byzantins, des nobles serbes, des marchands vénitiens, des envahisseurs turcs, des guerriers monténégrins ... Plus de 70 attentats à la bombe durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale ont détruit de nombreux bâtiments et monuments des siècles précédents. Au cours de nos 90 minutes de marche, nous passerons devant certaines de ces traces restantes des siècles précédents mais nous jetterons également un regard sur la façon dont la ville a été reconstruite pendant la période communiste et dans les décennies suivantes.

Itinéraire
Notre point de rendez-vous est au centre de Podgorica - Place de l'Indépendance (anciennement Place de la République), à la fontaine. En cas de pluie, le guide sera positionné par la Banque Société Générale, sous les gouttières entourant la place. Nous passerons devant le bâtiment de la municipalité, et nous arrêterons brièvement devant la statue de Marko Miljanov, l'un des généraux et écrivains célèbres de la fin du 19ème siècle.
De la rue Bokeska, nous passons devant le théâtre national et continuons en direction de la statue de Petar II, Petrovic Njegos, célèbre prince-évêque, écrivain et philosophe.
Nous continuons notre route par l'un des ponts sur la rivière Moraca, qui traverse Podgorica.
Notre circuit nous conduit sur la rivière Moraca, via l'un des ponts piétonniers. De là, nous aurons une vue imprenable sur le pont Millennium, l'un des monuments reconnaissables de Podgorica.
Nous ferons également un bref arrêt à la statue de Vladimir Vysotsky, un poète, chanteur et auteur-compositeur russe, décédé jeune, mais qui a vécu à Podgorica pendant un certain temps.
Nous traverserons à nouveau la rivière Moraca, au pont Blazo Jovanovic, et poursuivrons en direction de Sastavci (ou Skaline), au confluent des rivières Ribnica et Moraca.
Sastavci ou Skaline est un site très pittoresque, mais dont on ignore tout. Au-dessus de la confluence se dressent des ruines à peine visibles de la forteresse de Ribnica. Celles-ci sont connues sous le nom de Nemanjin grad, puisque c'est ici que Stefan Nemanja, fondateur de la dynastie Nemanjic, est né. Nous traverserons un vieux pont de pierre pittoresque en direction de Stara Varos, le plus ancien quartier préservé de Podgorica, qui remonte à la domination ottomane.
À Stara Varos, nous nous arrêterons brièvement à la mosquée Starodoganjska, construite au XVe siècle et entretenue pendant longtemps par les commerçants des magasins à proximité.
Sahat Kula (la tour de l'horloge) est l'un des monuments importants de Podgorica. Il se trouve au bord de Stara Varos, en face des immeubles socialistes de l'autre côté de la rue. Construit au 18ème siècle par Adzi Pasha Osmanagic.
Sur le chemin du retour, nous passerons devant le monument du roi Nikola, un monument équestre assez classique héroïque, situé dans King’s Park. Il a été érigé en 2006, le jour de la libération de Podgorica lors de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, sur un plateau opposé au Parlement national.
Situé au coin de la rue Njegoseva, il représente le célèbre poète russe Pouchkine lisant des poèmes pour sa femme Natalija Gonchareva. Après une brève pause photo à ce monument, nous reviendrons sur la place de l'Indépendance.

- Il s'agit d'une visite à pied facile de la ville, mais Podgorica peut être très chaude en été et une petite partie de la visite mène à des rues en pavés, il est donc conseillé de porter des chaussures confortables). La visite fonctionne presque dans toutes les conditions météorologiques, veuillez vous habiller de manière appropriée.

Our guide Slavko Gusak was absolutely incredible. His wealth of knowledge, use of the English language, and demeanor was excellent. He could answer all our questions with ease. We were in Podgorica for 1 day in transit and wanted to learn more about Montenegro unfortunately our tour was cancelled due to lack of numbers so we had the option of paying a little more for a private tour. Definitely worth it and glad this happened so we had our private tour. Our guide met us at our hotel and we took a leisurely walk into the city . Stopping to tell us about each area, history, culture along the way. We then asked for recommendation on where to eat and we had an amazing fresh fish brunch in a very tradition taverna. Defo worth doing whilst in Podgorica Thank you for the regular communication from the office and adapting our tour around our schedule

Despite bad weather (rainy, windy, cold as for Podgorica ) my guide Diana made her best to show me around the city and important places! And told a lot of stories) She knows Russian well! Slavko gave us a great walking tour in the city of Podgorica. He started with the introduction that took us back thousands years ago and he explained the city history till today. We visited Podgorica this April and decided to book a tour at the last moment. It proved to be a good decision as we had an excellent local guide who took us around the town and told us the story of the city which we wouldn't be able to discover on our own. We got a recommendation for local pubs and restaurants. We also booked the same agency for their Kotor tour the next day and it was just as perfect.
