Le matsuri d'automne a eu lieu à Setagaya Hachimangu, l'un des plus grands sanctuaires de la salle Setagaya. Remarquable pour le dohyo (anneau de sumo) installé dans l'enceinte du sanctuaire et pour l'événement honosumo (奉 納).
Le temple Gotokuji est le début de l'ermitage Kotokuin construit par Kira Masatada qui construisit le château de Setagaya en 1480. À l'origine, il s'agissait de la secte Rinzai, mais en 1584, il devint un temple de la secte Soto. Les tombeaux de Ii Naosuke, la plus grande autorité du shogunat Tokugawa au milieu du XIXe siècle, la pagode à trois étages, le culte de l'invincible Kannon, attirent de nombreux visiteurs. bonne fortune faisant signe au chat, surnommé le «manekineko» par certains. Ce chat porte-bonheur, connu dans tout le pays, aurait été «né» ici. La vue de 1 000 ou plus de ces «chats» alignés fait maintenant partie des paysages représentant Tokyo. On dit que le chat porte-bonheur, que les Japonais connaissent comme un symbole de chance, est le lieu de naissance du temple Gotokuji. Le sanctuaire Shoinjinja a été fondé en 1882 avec le maître Yoshida Shoin au centre. Dans l'enceinte, il y a les tombeaux d'enfants d'école du village de Shoka, dont Yoshida Shoin, et le bâtiment qui reproduit l'école du village de Shoka. M. Yoshida Shoin, né en 1830 dans la ville de Hagi, dans la préfecture de Yamaguchi, a construit la pierre angulaire du Japon moderne en tant que chef spirituel de la restauration Meiji, mais il a été exécuté dans la prison de repos par Ii Naosuke, mettant ainsi vie de 30 ans. Sa philosophie, également appelée «Yamato Damashi (esprit japonais)», influence la pensée et la façon de penser des Japonais contemporains, notamment Ito Hirofumi, qui est devenu Premier ministre du Japon dans le premier cabinet. Il est intéressant de noter que le sanctuaire Shoinjinja qui abrite Yoshida Shoin, qui a mis fin à l’ère des samouraïs, et le temple Gotokuji, où Ii Naosuke dort pour protéger l’époque des Samouraïs, se trouvent à proximité.

We spent a fabulous half-day wit Mitsuko, who was kind, informative, and fun! We expected to just see the cat temple, but we got to go to several temples and shrines in the area, learn about the neighborhood, and even do some shopping. Could not recommend this highly enough. We were emersed in the local cuture from the beginning of the tour. The traditional tea ceremony was amazing. The guide spoke excellent English and was very knowledgeable. This is a must do when in Tokyo.

<p>This tour is exactly what I was hoping it would be. We had a great morning with our tour guide Yoshimi exploring the local area of Gotokuji and visiting the Lucky Cat Temple. </p> <p>We have been to Tokyo before and seek out more off the grid and local experiences when we can. This tour was new to Viator and outside the hustle and bustle of the Tokyo we know, thus why we thought it might be interesting. We are also crazy about the Lucky Cat, so thought this would be fun and lucky to see. </p> <p>Yoshimi, our tour guide, was so nice, knowledgable, easy to walk and talk with and continually wanted to ensure we were taken care of. She met us at the subway station on this rainy day and we spent 3.5 hours on foot exploring at a slow, relaxed pace the quaint little streets, the local little shops and activity of a regular Saturday for this community which seemed void of most tourists. More shops would most likely be open if you book this tour for the later time versus the 9AM start that we took. </p> <p>This tour is local, slow paced, focused on the Gotokuji community and exactly what I was hoping for.
