Sarnath est situé à 10 km de Varanasi, facilement accessible par n'importe quel moyen de transport. C'est l'un des sites bouddhistes les plus sacrés au monde, Sarnath étant célèbre pour être le lieu où Gautama Bouddha a prononcé son premier sermon. Sarnath était une école d'enseignement renommée du 6ème siècle avant JC au 12ème siècle après JC. Visitez les ruines, le stupa, le temple bouddhiste et le musée. Au musée se trouve le pilier Ashok avec ses quatre lions gardiens, utilisé comme emblème national de l’Inde indépendante. Le temple bouddhiste Mulagandhakuti Vihara à Sarnath est l'un des temples construits par la Société Sri Lankaise Mahabodhi en 1931. C'est l'endroit où le Seigneur Bouddha avait passé sa première saison des pluies. Les murs de ce temple présentent de belles fresques illustrant la vie du Bouddha. C'est le lieu le plus saint pour les personnes de religion bouddhiste, car le Seigneur Bouddha a atteint son illumination ici sous l'arbre. Dhamekh Stupa est le lieu où le Seigneur Bouddha a donné sa première conversation sur le Dharma.

Such an amazing tour! The tour guide was informative, funny, and considerate (always choosing shade when it was 43 degrees outside). He was so easy to understand and told everything in a clear and memorable way. For me, it was really special to hear the story of Buddhism in the country it was founded - despite it being less observed in the country today.

Brilliant guided walk around Sarnath. Our guide was able to explain the complexity of Buddism, very clearly and succinctly, he was relaxed and humorous and made the walk seem like 5 minutes. He was very knowledgeable about the subject and happy to discuss any subject relating to Indian culture and beliefs. I would highly recommend the company.
