We had a great Photo Tour in Bruges on February 7th. Andy spent three hours teaching us smartphone photography while sharing interesting history about the city. We were a group of eight guys on a fun weekend trip, and this was definitely a highlight. Clear explanations, great photo spots, and even a good lunch tip for the next day. Highly recommended!
"Shades of Brugge" Photo Tour with Andy McSweeney was just brilliant. My only request is that I had not done a night photo like this earlier so photography would have been better from the start of our European holiday. I went on the tour in the hope of learning at least one new tip and be taken to something perfect photo spots in Bruges. Andy provided lots of guidance and tips during the trip that I will take forward in my photography journey. Also, the locations taken were just awesome with a couple hidden gems. Would highly recommend connecting with Andy if you are in Bruges for a photo tour you will not be disappointed. Thanks, Andy, for a great tour.
I had a great private tour with Andy in May 2024. His easy-going manner and great location & composition advice helped jump-start my photography of not only Brugge but the other towns I visited on my trip. I also learned a lot about the history of the town and the local culture as well as getting some great tips on local restaurants and beer!
My husband book an evening photo tour with Andy - it was wonderful! I'm not a photographer but came along as the "plus 1" as I knew it would also be informative and interesting. Andy took us to some key photo spots as the light changed through the evening. My husband enjoyed learning from Andy's experience and his "tips" to improve the photos. It was a fun evening that we both enjoyed. Andy was very pleasant, interesting and entertaining. He also provided suggestions for places to visit / eat / drink over the next few days.
Wonderful guide, very knowledgeable about Brugge and photography. Highlight of our trip in Europe for sure! Highly recommend.
I enjoyed every single minute of this tour. It was a perfect mix of photography skills, exploring the local culture. Additionally Andy gave me loads of useful tips. When my husband saw my photos (he couldn’t travel with me) he thought I stole Andy‘s photos. Thank you Andy!
I did a night photo shoot with Andy. It was the highlight of my trip. I scheduled for a couple reasons: help in finding best shots since I didn’t have three weeks to explore and to improve my skills in night photography. My expectations were exceeded in both! I just edited my pictures and have a couple dozen spectacular shots I would have never gotten on my own. Andy was helpful in settling up the shots, getting the best lighting, using my equipment, creative ideas, and giving helpful evaluation of each shot. Besides that he made the whole experience pleasurable. I left a better photographer. If you’re serious about your photography or just want a casual walk about I can’t recommend him highly enough. I’ll schedule another session anytime I’m in Bruges.
My wife and I went with Andy on a 3 hour evening photo tour. Andy was very professional, knowledgeable, and fun to be with. Andy first asked about our photography experience and what our expectations were. I do photography as a hobby and am always interested in learning from others and seeing how others create their compositions. Andy was very informative. He shared his technical knowledge as well as photos showing examples of his compositions at some of the locations we visited. Andy knows the history of Brugge. As we walked around town he told us the history of locations and people that influenced the town. We really enjoyed his sharing of the local history. He also gave us suggestions of other areas of town to visit and photograph during the day. Andy and I use the same camera systems. He let me try out one of his lenses, which in my opinion is going way above and beyond our expectations. Andy is a polite and kind individual. We truly enjoyed our tour with him.
Very lovely guy who adapted the tour well to our needs (my sister's operated leg) and was able to go into enthusiastic detail whenever we had particular interests or further questions. The way he presented photography was very inspirational and gave me new ideas in what ways to improve the way I choose my motives. He was very positive and encouraging about reviewing my takes on realizing the discussed techniques. I am a very amateur photographer which was no problem at all and he's definitely not snobby about 'only' using smartphones. Thank you very much, Andy!
In short, this photo tour was one of the best activities we did in Bruges. Andy is not only incredibly knowledgeable, but friendly and very easy-going. He has no problem explaining stuff on a smartphone, Nikon compact camera or Fujifilm cameras. If you can capture the attention of a 15-year old girl, an 11-year old boy while at the same time get them and us to think about composition and give tips that really matter, you really make this tour into a 3 hour exciting photographic experience. Personally I enjoyed the complete package that he gives, not photography only but interesting and fun facts on the history of Bruges and whenever possible just a casual chat. Heavily recommended... we'll be seeing him again in the future, that's for sure.
