Ben was an excellent tour guide - very personable, welcoming and engaging. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history (people, places, events) of that time in New York City. Note that there is only one building in which you go inside to see an interior space (all of the other stops on the tour are exterior only)
I booked this tour for a group of 55+ empty nesters which I run for several affiliated synagogues in Nassau County. The people at Untapped (primary contact was Justin Rivers) were extremely efficient, polite and flexible and accommodated my needs (of which there were many) completely. Questions and requests were handled extremely quickly. And our tour guide, Richard Soden, was very personable and knowledgeable. Not only did he share thousands of facts and stories but he also came with a laptop filled with great old photographs of interiors and exteriors of many mansion. AND, when we asked numerous questions which were not directly related to the Fifth Avenue mansions, he answered every question so thoroughly that it seemed like he had a microchip implanted in his head or that he had an AI feed. I cannot say enough about this tour and every single person in my group felt exactly the same way. Thank you Untapped for a really great experience.
Great experience. Highly reccommended.
An intriguing and facinating tour about the not so long ago history and wealth of powerful families in NY. The tour is fast paced and full of fun facts. Richards is extremely knowledgeable on the subject. Highly recommend!
What a great tour. Laura our guide was fantastic and well versed in the complex content of the tour. And she was a trouper given it was sooooooo cold. I think there has been a renewed interested of late of this period so it is popular and I would HIGHLY recommend whether you are coming after seeing period movies or televisions shows or simply enjoy the history and architecture of NYC, Thank you fou hosting us. It was a treat!

Whether you’re a fan of period dramas or a local history buff, we’re happy it was such a treat. Stay warm and see you again soon!
We were a group of 5 women who took the Gilded Age tour with Ro as our tour guide. Ro was engaging, very knowledgeable and kept our attention for the two hour tour. I highly recommend this experience.
Took the Gilded Age Mansion tour with Richard. Very informative and friendly. He's an NYC resident and has some good personal views. Easy meet up location and good pace. Richard was always asking for questions and happy to answer them. Enjoyed this tour. Thanks Richard
Enjoyed our guide Rose very much. She was very knowledgeable and very personable. We learned a lot about the moneyed people during the guilded age.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re so glad you enjoyed your time with Ro—she’s a fantastic guide and will be thrilled to hear your feedback. The Gilded Age is full of fascinating (and extravagant!) stories, and we’re glad you got to dive into that world with us. Hope to see you again on another tour!
Richard did an amazing job leading our tour of the Gilded Age Mansions in NYC. He was knowledgable and made our tour fun and interesting with lots of little tid bits of gossip, bad behaviour and society news sprinkled in. We had a tour of an exhibit at the Met first and Richard did a wonderful job of reversing the typical tour which heads north on 5th Avenue - to a tour that led south so we could start from the Met. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.
Enjoyed the tour of the mansions on fifth Avenue and learned a lot of interesting facts. Our tour guide Richard was full of information and very knowledgeable.
