Excellent tour of the museum and the art! Highly recommend to obtain a better appreciation of art history.
This was a truly unique experience but it seemed rushed. The description said 90 minutes but our tour guide was there for an hour. I appreciated her expertise and insider knowledge; it was like a fire hose of information. I learned a great deal. But after she left we stayed and attended an exhibit and looked at some of the art we had been rushed by.
Catherine was a wonderful guide with an extensive knowledge of artworks, sculptures & history of the Musee de Orsay building. She was able to accommodate my husband's wheelchair accessibility during the Tour through the crowds of visitors. She gave the highlights of the Orsay so we could wander through the Musee for the rest of the day.
Our guy never got back to us and never showed up. I asked for a refund, but I have not heard back about that either.
We had a tremendous guide, Asfaneh, a professor of art history at the Sorbonne for our first visit to Musée d'Orsay. Over 1.5 hours, she guided us through the major Impressionist holdings of the museum revealing the techniques, back stories, and motivations of different artists of the genre. Asfaneh made the art come alive! A very memorable experience, and highly recommended. There are a ton of exhibits in the museum, and this tour is far from exhaustive of its holdings, so think of the tour as a targeted experience that focuses on the Orsay's most famous/popular pieces. You can remain in the museum after the tour if you wish to explore more. Note that for this tour, you need to book & purchase museum entry tickets on your own directly from the Museum, and then book the tour based on your entry time. This allows you to schedule the time of your visit to your preference.
Our guide was fabulous! The tour was so interesting, he really provided great information about the artwork and the artists. We felt like we had insight into the life and times of the artists. He also used an iPad to share photos and a wireless headphone system so he could whisper and we could still hear him. Damien McDonagh is a grear tour guide, I highly recommend!
Beautiful old train station, turned into a fabulous art museum. Very knowledgeable guide the meeting place was different from what Viator shared. We had a hard time finding our guide.
The quality of Viator tours varies greatly depending on the individual guide, who isn't known in advance. I've generally had pretty good luck, but they can be great to just okay. Also, make sure to confirm whether entry tickets are included or not, and if not, make sure they are available for the date of your tour.
Ana was a great tour guide, she taught us about the painters, and showed us how the paintings changed based on your perspective. We loved our tour with her, highly recommend!
This was the best guided tour I have ever experienced. Our guide was very knowledgeable about art and we so much from her.
