La prochaine étape de votre voyage vous révélera la majestueuse cathédrale Santa Maria del Fiore, le Duomo. La dernière étape de la visite sera le Musée de l'Opéra du Duomo, où vous pourrez admirer des œuvres inestimables du patrimoine artistique. Si vous choisissez l’option correspondante, vous aurez la chance d’escalader le clocher de Giotto.

La place du Duomo offre une vue à couper le souffle, surtout au coucher du soleil, lorsque les rayons du soleil « illuminent » le marbre polychrome des édifices qui forment le complexe religieux de la ville : le baptistère, la cathédrale et le clocher de Giotto. En effet l'homogénéité chromatique (vert, blanc et rouge) harmonise magnifiquement une variété stylistique.
La cathédrale Santa Maria del Fiore, située à Florence, est l'un des chefs-d'œuvre les plus célèbres de l'architecture gothique et Renaissance. Sa construction a commencé en 1296, conçue par Arnolfo di Cambio, et s'est achevée en 1436 avec le majestueux dôme de Filippo Brunelleschi, une innovation technique remarquable. Caractérisée par une façade de marbre blanc, vert et rose, la cathédrale est réputée pour sa taille impressionnante et ses détails décoratifs complexes. Le Campanile de Giotto, à côté de l'église, et le baptistère Saint-Jean, avec les célèbres Portes du Paradis de Lorenzo Ghiberti, complètent le magnifique complexe. L'intérieur, relativement sobre par rapport à l'extérieur, abrite des œuvres d'artistes tels que Paolo Uccello et Donatello. Le dôme, avec ses célèbres fresques du Jugement dernier de Giorgio Vasari et Federico Zuccari, domine l'horizon de Florence et reste l'une des merveilles architecturales les plus admirées au monde.
La visite nous mènera au musée de "l'Opera del Duomo" où vous admirerez de près des œuvres de grande valeur du patrimoine artistique du complexe religieux; à noter, avec d'autres, "La Pietà" de Michel-Ange. Veuillez garder à l'esprit que le Musée est fermé le premier mardi de chaque mois

Le clocher de Giotto à Florence est un exemple étonnant de l'architecture gothique, situé à côté de la cathédrale Santa Maria del Fiore. Conçu par Giotto di Bondone en 1334, il a été achevé en 1359 par Andrea Pisano et Francesco Talenti. La tour de 84 mètres de haut est décorée de marbre blanc, vert et rose, en harmonie avec la façade de la cathédrale. Il présente des motifs géométriques complexes, des reliefs sculpturaux et de superbes statues, dont beaucoup sont aujourd’hui conservées au Museo dell’Opera del Duomo. Les visiteurs peuvent gravir ses 414 marches pour profiter d'une vue panoramique imprenable sur Florence, ce qui en fait l'un des monuments les plus emblématiques de la ville. Visite du Clocher de Giotto (si option sélectionnée) Les clients sont priés de noter que le Clocher de Giotto restera fermé du 10 au 14 novembre.

Eva was great! A native of Florence, she is VERY knowledgeable, friendly, funny and down to earth. It was more of a chat rather than non-stop talking like most guides do. She was great with my 14-year old daughter as well as her 68 year-old dad, me!

Knowledgeable guide gave us a thorough tour. I would skip the bell tower climb if I went again. The wire mesh makes it difficult to get any good photos. Looks to be the same for the dome climb as well. There was some confusion over the admission lines, but our guide handled it for us.

Unfortunately this tour did not work out for us. Once our guide Sylvia arrived - she was 10 minutes late - she was accommodating to helping us check our backpack & find a toilet. After that, I was not impressed with crowd or long line control. There was no “skip the line” with a private tour guide to get into see the Duomo and the line was very long. We ended up going to the Bell Tower first, then the museum. The Baptistry was under construction so nothing to really see via the main sight. Upon returning to the Duomo line - it continued to be long. Sylvia told us out tickets are good for 3 days so we decided to call it done & visit on our own. Nothing bad to say about our guide - just the entire process of getting in & touring was not easy or pleasant. There are other smaller museums & collections to view. Go enjoy them

Regarding the visit itself, please note that access to the Cathedral is managed directly by the administration of the complex, and during busy periods, lines may form even for ticket holders. The ticket used for this tour includes priority access to the various monuments of the complex; however, all visitors are still required to go through mandatory security checks, which can sometimes cause brief delays. We are pleased to know that the guide remained patient and did her best to make the experience as enjoyable as possible despite the circumstances. We sincerely hope that, despite the crowds and the ongoing restoration works, you were still able to appreciate the beauty and history of Florence’s Cathedral complex. Great take - Had a great guide. On the negative side 1) Email sent us pre-tour on a wild goose chase to pick up tickets (wasn’t necessary because guide had them). 2) Assumed we were getting “skip line tix” which were faster than regular tix but still 45 minute wait…
