Prior to Covid, my wife and I loved to take friends on horse and carriage rides with the 76 Carriage Company. Since then, however, the horses have been retired and the carriages have been replaced by electric cars. This year, we and a friend decided to give the cars a try, and we were glad we did! We were impressed at the start because our "wrangler", Kim, was dressed in her former horse-and-carriage livery. After a brief discussion of our former tour experiences with 76 Carriage, she indulged us by taking us through historic neighborhoods we had not visited before, as well as showing us how the more popular attractions were being "fixed up" for the 250th birthday celebrations. All in all, we found her knowledge, enthusiasm, and friendliness to be unsurpassed as a tour guide, even though her beloved horses were no longer part of the experience. The tour we booked was actually 90 minutes, but Tripadvisor only had a box for 60 minutes. 76 Carriage Company provides open sided cars in warm weather, and closed sided ones in winter. Definitely worth it!
Mike was our driver and he was extremely knowledgeable and informative. There was so much information packed into our tour that it's hard to remember it all. Thank you for all your assistance to make a memorable experience for us.
I loved this car, perfect for getting in and out, dodging traffic, etc Our tour guide was so knowledgeable, but I felt like it was TOO MUCH info I wanted to sit back, chill, and get bullet point info about the area, we instead got an encyclopedia dump. However, I did learn alot, and she was super nice, so I do recommend this tour
The guide was very knowledgeable. Perfect way to tour the city on a beautiful day. We learned a lot!
Mike was an excellent driver with tons of wonderful information and stories about Pennsylvania! Our whole group enjoyed this experience.
Riding through the neighborhoods and learning all the history from our guide. He had an independent knowledge of the plaques over the doors. How the tax man taxed back in the day and where all the history characters lived. Was fantastic!!
The most memorable part of our tour was waiting on the street corner for a tour that never materialized. Via tour canceled the tour due to excessive heat but failed to inform me. Later, they sent me an email saying they enjoyed the time we spent together.
It's a must for someone who wants to have a quick tour and take in all in the information while sitting in the cart. You can then do a more in-depth for the sites that interested you. Thanks so much!!!!
The tour guide was very knowledgeable. If you don’t feel like doing a lot of walking this is the perfect tour! It was a nice, relaxing and educational tour for the family!
Kim was amazing. This was a great experience. We've done bus tours but the idea of a private tour seemed fun and this did not disappoint. Saw pretty much everything and learned a lot. Exactly what we were looking for.
Thanks for the positive feedback! We are glad you enjoyed the tour.
