Mr Monu is very knowledgable, a good conversationalist and links legends/folklores with facts to make the trip interesting .
I would recommend anyone to take this tour. There’s a big value in roaming with a local guide who grew up in Varanasi. Each corner has its own story, and I would have missed it without guidance. The guide is lovely, with great English and great knowledge. I recommend doing the tour as your first activity in Varanasi, so that you have a good orientation.
We had an incredible experience in Varanasi with Monu as our guide. He is extremely knowledgeable and shared so much insight about the city, its history, and traditions, which made everything even more meaningful. Monu also introduced us to some amazing street food spots we would never have found on our own—everything was delicious and authentic. The sunrise boat ride on the Ganges was absolutely magical and a perfect way to experience the spirit of Varanasi. Monu made sure everything was smooth and enjoyable throughout. We highly recommend Monu to anyone visiting Varanasi—he made our trip special and memorable!
Very clear and provided explanations, perfectly organized visit to alleys, ghats, cremations and chai tea. I recommend! 🙌
This was a fantastic way to experience Varanasi and easily one of the best things we did there. The sunrise boat trip was truly special, peaceful, beautiful, and a perfect way to see the ghats as the city woke up. The walking tour afterwards added so much context, and stopping at the local tea shop was a simple but memorable moment that made the whole experience feel very real. Our guide was warm, friendly, and clearly knew the city inside out. Everything felt well paced and relaxed. I would wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Varanasi.
Today I met my guide at the designated meeting point, and from the very beginning the experience was exceptional. We took a peaceful boat ride along the Ganges River, and the guide explained each stop with great clarity, depth, and respect for the spiritual significance behind every place. I especially appreciated that he is a local guide, born and raised in Varanasi, which gave his explanations an authentic understanding of the culture, traditions, and worldview of the city. His storytelling and spiritual insights made the tour incredibly enriching. He was also extremely attentive throughout the entire experience. He welcomed me with a warm cup of tea, made sure I felt comfortable at all times, and later helped me return to my hotel by arranging an Uber. The most special moment of the day was when he brought me to a place I didn’t even know existed in Varanasi: the home of a guru I deeply respect. That thoughtful gesture made my visit truly unforgettable. Overall, it was a beautiful and meaningful day. I had a wonderful time and I highly recommend this guide to anyone visiting Varanasi.
We recently had an amazing half day tour in Varanasi. Our guide Sandeep was extremely warm and friendly, and shared so much knowledge with us about the city’s history and Hinduism. We had already been in Varanasi for 2 days but managed to see so many new and interesting places including galis/streets, flower market, temples, viewpoints of the Ganga and the ghatts themselves. Boat ride was lovely and timed perfectly with sunset. We also stopped for local delicacy sweets and traditional chai which were lovely touches. Sandeep took us to a great viewpoint to watch the Ganga Aarti ceremony, which was not crowded. Would recommend this tour to anyone!
Excellent and cheap walking tour of Varanasi. First you visit a couple of Vico beds and then the whole story of cremations is told.
had a great tour with monu. very comprehensive and is the perfect overview of varanasi. saw some little known places as well as some main sights. highly recommend.
We had the most amazing tour today with Monu. He was super knowledgeable and informative. We learnt lots and saw many interesting places. I would highly recommend the tour to anyone visiting Varanasi.
