Idéalement situé sur le chemin du retour d'Angkor Wat, c'est l'étape parfaite après une matinée aux temples. Fun, éducatif et familial – les enfants aiment particulièrement rencontrer les rats !
Wat Thmei (Thmey) — Killing Fields & Genocide Memorial de Siem Reap Situé juste au sud de Siem Reap (environ 10–15 minutes en tuk‐tuk ou 20‐30 minutes en vélo), Wat Thmei est l'un des nombreux sites au Cambodge connus sous le nom de « Killing Fields » des Khmers rouges. De 1975 à 1979, Wat Thmei – une pagode bouddhiste – a été réaffectée en prison et lieu d’exécution des Khmers rouges. Les prisonniers ont été amenés, contraints à de faux aveux, et tragiquement exécutés et enterrés à proximité dans des fosses communes et des puits. On estime qu’environ 8 000 Cambodgiens innocents – y compris des intellectuels, d’anciens fonctionnaires et des agriculteurs – sont morts ici pendant le règne brutal du régime.
Construite en 1904 sous le protectorat Français, cette élégante villa de style khmer sert de résidence royale officielle au roi du Cambodge lorsqu'il visite Siem Reap. Bien que souvent confondue avec le « Palais Royal », il s'agit en fait d'une villa modeste mais historiquement significative nichée à côté du Jardin Royal de l'Indépendance
Marché fabriqué au Cambodge – Siem Reap Un joyau dans le centre de Siem Reap, le marché Made in Cambodia est un bazar artisanal organisé présentant des produits fabriqués localement – avec un but précis. Situé sur la rue Oum Khun, en face du Shinta Mani Angkor, il est ouvert tous les jours de 12h à 20h (certaines listes jusqu’à 21h)
Wat Preah Prom Rath – Un bijou dans le centre-ville de Siem Reap Niché le long de Pokambor Avenue au bord de la rivière Siem Reap et à quelques pas de Pub Street et du vieux marché, Wat Preah Prom Rath est un superbe complexe de temples bouddhistes de style khmer qui sert de monastère actif.
