Good experience

It was a good way to see Reykjavik. Very easy to navigate. Buses where there when scheduled you were able to track when the bus would arrive

Horrible experience

Do not purchase! Provider is not reliable. Busses run 50 to 60 minutes apart. Website clearly states busses run every 20 minutes. This is false advertising. Good only way if you want to hop on only.

Pay attention!

Driver didn’t announce stops. You need to follow the map or audio closely to see where you want to get off. Also be ready to get up and move quickly towards the exits or driver just takes off. This is very different from what I’ve experienced on HOHO buses in other cities. Now that some stops aren’t necessarily close to what you might want to see. Be ready to walk a bit. Other than those two items, the HOHO is a good way to get an overview of parts of Reykjavik.

Poorly organised, nothing too interesting to see, hop off, hang around, hop off service... plenty of better things to experienc

Stopped off here on a Cruise and was delighted it included this well known city, but in truth left uninspired. This was probably our fifth city bus tour and I guess it was probably the worse, not just from the bus organisational point of view but also a reflection on Reykjavik and what was on offer... that's not a criticism of the city which is a working city, the heart of Iceland and a functioning place. On that front I was generally disappointed with what the city had to view, a few museums, areas described as commercial centres where you can get food and shopping, but in truth there was little of interest. The Cathedral was worth stopping at and the Statue of Leif Erikson worth seeing but not much else. I found the whole city is a working city, not really a tourist destination. The truth is when you come to Iceland, this is a starting point to some of its real attractions, we thought a trip round the city would fill our day but we should have paid more and gone further afield. That's just to help someone learn from our experience about Reykjavik. The actual tour we signed up for was poorly organised. As said it was on a Cruise day and, as one driver told me, 'It's always packed on Cruise Days' which surely is common sense and therefore surely more buses are required. We got the complementary ear phones, had to move seats as didnt work in one port, but settled in. I usually listen as the commentary provides interesting insight into what we're passing, but found a disconnect between the commentary, with it not matching where I was at. Then a second voice took over, almost repeating what the initial comments were, but just in a different way round. Overall poor... and not really talking about anything too interesting. We stopped off, walked round the couple of shops and unopened cafes/restaurants and tried to get back on, only for the next bus to be full and entry refused. Nobody was standing though. Next bus was two stops away. Undeterred, we hiked up two stops (to stop 9 the Cathedral thinking this the most likely get off point) to find the first bus was parked there and we just beat the second bus. This worked and we got a seat. Travelled a bit further, then had to sit at the Bus Terminal for about 10 mins where I alighted to use the toilet facilities, costing £1.77 for the privilege. Went a bit further to the new shopping mall for food, which was like a poor Meadowhall and not what I wanted to experience, though the pint of beer was good. Needed to be as cost over a tenner... Getting back on got worse, as now all the buses were past us, the next one took 40mins to get to us, but a plus, you could watch their lethargic progress on a QR code enabled app. This needed to be better organised, more buses, and the idea is hop on every few minutes, not eventually, an even spread of buses around the city. It was standing only for us on this final leg, but happy this driver permitted us on, so unable to hear any commentary, but by this time we were glad we were heading to the Cruise Terminal. Ignore Reykjavik, its a city... go look at volcanoes or whales. Iceland has loads of great, amazing stuff to see, but it's capital and hop on hop off bus isn't one of them...

The trip shows the high points of Reykjavík, even though the weather was rainy and overcast the trip was enjoyable. The description on the earphones was very good!

Except for finding the bus the hop on hop off bus was excellent

The time was changed because of road closures. In trying to find out where & what time to meet the bus because of the rod closure we could not get in contact with anyone. It was not a good start. Once we found the bus the tour was excellent

Hello, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear that once you found the bus, you had an excellent tour experience. We’re sorry for the confusion and frustration caused by the change of departure time due to the road closures. Unexpected road conditions can sometimes require adjustments to the schedule, and we understand that having difficulty reaching our team while trying to confirm the meeting details made the situation even more stressful. We appreciate your patience and are happy that the rest of the tour went smoothly. Your feedback is valuable, and we’ll keep it in mind as we continue improving our communication during unexpected changes. Thank you for joining us, and we hope to welcome you back to Iceland again in the future! Kind regards, Zuzanna
