Not so good tour

The food was mediocre, the asado was little and hard to chew. We were expecting better entertainment and what we received was one accordion player and basic folklore dancing lessons that also included Zorba the Greek and the Macarena. Both definitely not Argentine.

Hi Daniel! We were truly surprised by your comment and that you were so incredibly grateful at the end for everything! Amparo, Martha, and the others were also very happy and thankful! After the tour of the town, they were welcomed back to the ranch with meat and vegetable empanadas, side dishes such as pickled eggplant, BBQ chicken, chorizo, blood sausage, carrots, cucumbers, and various drinks (red and white wine, beer, juices, and soda). Afterwards, there was a historical talk, and since one of the ladies had a mobility issue, we tried to make sure she didn't have to walk too much. Then came lunch with a variety of cuts of meat (different types of meat, chicken, chorizo, etc.) accompanied by a variety of salads, vegetables, and risotto. Dessert was flan with dulce de leche. And then, after activities like a guitar session and Argentine folk music, we played chacareras, gato, una huella, chamamé, tangos, and finally, we took a journey through different songs from around the world so that the guests could hear a significant melody from their country or another, and even dance. We taught you how to dance to Argentine folk music, and everyone had a lot of fun wearing ponchos and berets. Afterward, we gave a demonstration of the gaucho with the lasso, in which also participated your family/friends and explained the gaucho's clothing and traditions. Then your group enjoy horseback riding and fed the animals. To finish, they enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea with homemade treats (buñuelitos, tortas fritas, alfajorcitos, a variety of cakes, etc.). It's a shame to receive such criticism considering all the work and effort we put into fulfilling the services we offered. It seems to me you were looking for a massive touristy destination.

Areco, the capital of Gaucho tradition

An unforgettable traditional Gaucho experience in the heart of the Argentine pampas, eating, strolling, and enjoying music with a barbecue made at a ranch from 1822

Great day in the countryside!

Great day in the countryside! Coordination for driver pick-up at our hotel was easy, we loved seeing the silversmithing operation in Areco, the estancia was beautiful and peaceful, the food was great. Our hostess, Catalina, was extremely knowledgable and took the time to answer all of our questions and teach us about the history of the property. Our kids loved the live music and dancing, as well as the horseback ride. Such a fun day!

Lovely day trip with great hosts

We had a wonderful time on this tour. Andy picked us up at our hotel in Buenos Aires and drove us to San Antonio de Areco. There, we explored the local church, a silversmith museum, and a leather shop before continuing on to the estancia. Upon arrival at La Porteña we were warmly welcomed by our hostess, Catalina. We had drinks and appetizers and then a plentiful lunch of grilled meats and veggies. We learned about gaucho culture, watched a lasso demonstration, and listened to live music featuring a bandoneon. We also learned dance steps and rode horses around the farm. Following the horseback ride, we had desserts with tea and took a tour of the house. Overall, it was a great day with lovely hosts who were very informative.

This tour is not to be missed!

What an amazing day we had at La Estancia La Porteña. Everything was fabulous: the bbq (so much food), the Malbec wine, the mate, the delicious postres, Catelina the delightful owner, Martinez the lovely gaucho, Ernesto our musician… And not forgetting our fabulous guide/driver from Buenos Aires: Andrés Bentley who went above and beyond to make our day special. Would thoroughly recommend this tour. There were only six of us. It all felt so authentic. Loved it!

A wonderful day at the estancia

Andres was our driver and tour guide. He was excellent! He picked us up and one other couple and drove us to the town of San Antonio de Areco. We met up with two other people there and we visited the church and the silversmith museum, before heading to the estancia. Once there we were greeted by our hostess, Catalina. We were served appetizers and drinks, and she told us a little about the gauchos. The lunch was delicious, so much food! We had a lasso demonstration and a musician who played a bandoneon. After he played for a bit, we were given a short dancing lesson. Then a horseback ride. We were given some delicious deserts, lots of food and conversation and activities. There was a swimming pool available if we had wanted it. The weather was beautiful. I highly recommend this tour.

The BEST estancia experience!

We got picked up at our door in Buenos Aires, which was great. Spent a little time in San Antonio de Areco, at the museum/ silversmith.(Wish we’d had a little more time to wander around the town/ shops. Went on to the Estancia and were greeted with most delicious empanadas/ snacks and drinks. Had a huge lunch with unlimited wine(beer if you wanted) and then we were able to take a horseback ride through the property which was fun. There was a Gaucho demonstration, fun music and dancing. It was all very personal and authentic. It was a full day! If you choose to do a Gaucho experience- this is definitely the estancia that you should choose!!!

A wonderful trip to the Estancia

We were lucky to be the only guests on the day of the trip. Our guide, Santiago, picked us from our hotel; the drive to San Antonio de Areco was about an hour and a half. We had a brief tour of the town center including visiting a museum of Silver, the Cathedral and a couple of stores. The main highlight was the historic Estancia - we really liked the hosts, the tasty food they prepared for us, listening to the local musician and, of course, the horse back ride. This tour was very interesting and personal - we had a great experience!

Good outing although not quite what I expected.

Our guide (and driver) Andy was fabulous! Good communication, on time etc and very friendly and chatty, speaking really good English. The ranch itself (about 1 1/2 hours away) was a bit disappointing. The owner and host was really nice and friendly - even came to pick us up at the airstrip due to the gravel road to the farm being accessible to 4x4 due to rain (that was great fun!). At the ranch, we were only four guests, so none of the (expected) aspects like horse riding (although it was offered) and the feeling for festivities. The food was plenty but basic - lots of meat as expected. But overall, it was still a good outing.
