Elisa was an amazing guide for our 6 tastings foodie tour! She reached out to me several days ahead of time to introduce herself and to make a specific meeting plan. She was very personable and likable, and knowledgeable about the foods and beverages we tasted during the tour. She also added so much to the tour by giving us some history and background of the area as we walked to the different restaurants. And, importantly, the foods were so delicious! I would recommend Elisa and this tour to anyone visiting Lisbon!
If you are considering a tour in Lisbon stop looking and book with Angelo. You will have no regrets. We started with the hidden gems tour and were so impressed that we immediately booked a food tasting tour as well. His wealth is knowledge about Lisbjns’s history is truly remarkable, but what makes him exceptional is the way he brings that history to life. His love for Portugal shines through every story he shares, and he has a unique gift for presenting information in a way that is engaging and easy to follow. Angelo is funny, personable and incredibly congenial. Rather than delivering a standard scripted tour, he took the time to learn about our interests and personalized our experiences. If you want an authentic informative and enjoyable experience hire Angelo. It will. Terribly be one of the highlights of your trip!
Carlos was wonderful. He shared his extensive knowledge on Lisbon as well as historical information on Portugal 🇵🇹. The food was delicious and he was able to tailor for no beef or pork. Thank you, Carlos.
Alphe (our guide) was very knowledgeable about Portuguese history, culture, food & wine. He was also a lovely person. I liked the fresh sardines we tried as it was something I had wanted to try. However, I wish that we would’ve visited more places (we only went to two restaurants + one bakery to have paste de nada, which we’d already had), and the food we had was just average (& wasn’t enough!).
Catastrophic, a true scam! Absolutely to be avoided. This culinary tour was a huge disappointment. We hardly ate anything, and the tastings offered were truly mediocre. Yet, there are so many delicious specialties to discover in Portugal! As for the wine, let's not even talk about it... We felt completely mocked. We were promised 6 tastings, but in the end, we had a chickpea salad with cod and a few cod fritters, in insufficient quantity: there wasn't even one per person, and we had to share! Fortunately, the guide was friendly. However, while I had come to share this moment with my friends, he seated me alone at a table while he sat next to my friends. As a result, I could not fully enjoy the experience. In short, a very disappointing visit that I do not recommend at all. For me, it is a scam, and I advise you to avoid it.
The tour was AMAZING. We walked from the hotel, UPHILL a considerable amount to get to the meeting point. The benefit of starting at one of the highest points in the city is that the entire tour was walking downhill!! Our guide was engaging, enthusiastic and personable. She took us to local places with less than 10 tables each, exactly the local feel we were hoping for. Each stop included wines and foods local to the area, again perfect for our group of 8 world travelers. We had plenty of time at each stop to enjoy the location, foods and beverages, and relax a bit before a leisurely stroll to the next stop. While the total tour was several hours, the vast majority of the time is spend in local places enjoying the wines and foods. Overall, this was a fantastic experience that was well worth the investment.
Joao, our guide was fantastic. We took the tour on Independence Day, so most of the restaurants he usually took travelers to were too full so the second tier restaurants were open but meh. Joao gave us a great tour of the city which introduced to Lisbon.
It was a great introduction to food in Lisbon and the guide was very nice! The food was delicious I enjoyed it.
The food was delicious, Sonia was lovely, and it was a very enjoyable walking tour of downtown. Perfect introduction to Lisbon!
Wonderful evening with Alphé, he was a magnificent host and a great person. We went with four of us, with two girls 14 and 17. The food was great, and everyone in the family tried a few things they had never tried before. One was a small establishment down an alley that seemed tremendously popular with locals, maybe a dozen tables and when we left there was a very long line to get in, not expensive but very good. Then we went to a gorgeous building in a stye similar to a riad with another great meal. We would not have found the places on our own, nor would we have ordered the dishes Alphé selected for us, so was a great experience. Alphé himself was more memorable than the food, and we learned a lot about the city, culture, and cuisine, and also had some great discussions -- regardless of the situation, tour, if you ran into him you'd love to hang out and chat with him. Also recommend this personal tour over small group tours, since can be more responsive to individual tastes, and easer to get into restaurants with just the five of us.
