Our food tour with Michael was truly a wonderful experience. The food choices and locations were superb, and were perfectly balanced in terms of quantity, taste and variety. Michael provided excellent information on the food we tasted and the historical context of individual dishes as well as general Chinese food history. Travelling by tuk-tuk was a great way to go between the food neighbourhoods we visited. This is an absolute must do activity in Xi’an for anybody who likes food.
This was a fun tour. Our guide Michael made it very enjoyable and we got to taste a lot of different foods. Riding in the tuk tuk and breaking cups after drinking wine was also fun. Highly recommend signing up for this tour, worth the money.
Michael was an incredible guide. He spent 4 hours taking us around Xi’an (walking and by tuk-tuk) to try out everything. We must have visited 10-15 different stalls and restaurants in total, and all served delicious food. He also took special care to make sure there was enough for me specifically to eat everywhere we went, even though I’m vegetarian and that’s often hard in China. Overall a fantastic experience and would really recommend!
Fantastic foodie and night experience in Xi’an on our first evening with our amazing private guide Michael. On a mother and son trip with my 15 year old. Michael was super knowledgeable and chatty / we tried about 9 different things including 2 almost complete meals and the smash bowl wine experience and were incredibly full by the end - definitely come hungry! Even managed to fill a growing teenager which is a first! Amazing to see the Muslim area and Main Street at night - so busy! Michael organised tuktuks to get us around which added to the fun and a taxi back at the end. Definitely recommend this good tour - so much great varied food and a fantastic fun knowledgeable guide - don’t miss it!
Great evening with Michael ! Got us to try typical food and drinks from Xi’an with some Tuktuk rides in between. The Biang Biang noodles were a true highlight. Really recommend it to anyone wanting to truly discover the local food.”
We could not give Michael any higher praise. What a fantastic evening we had with him. The food was exquisite and we were able to try dishes that we otherwise may not have discovered (we particularly enjoyed the RU TIA MO "meat in burger", YANG RO POM WO "lamb pieces with little pieces of bread and soup" in the Muslim quarter and the biang biang noodles to name a few!!!) The tour was arranged carefully and it felt well adapted to our tastes and style. Michael was extremely knowledgeable and a lot of fun was had. This was one of the absolute highlights of our trip and we haven't stopped talking about it since we got home. We really hope that we will be back another time to join Michael on another tour.
We had a great time, learned so much, ate so much, met some lovely people at the different places. Plus our guide was very flexible, stopping to explain all sorts of places and foods we saw and asked about. I don’t think we would have had the food we had if we hadn’t used a guide. We got to go to places that locals eat at. I ate too much, though, so definitely pace yourself.
Fanastic experience from start to finish. Our tour guide Jackie showed us several neighbourhoods and introduced us to many delicious local staples. Jackie made us feel very comfortable given the language barrier and local spots visited which we would never have known about or attended without his guidance! Jackie's English is very good also. We booked only a few hours before the tour and we were fortunately accommodated for without issue. We would highly recommend a tour with Jackie for any English-speaking tourist visiting the impressive and beautiful city of Xi'an.

The food was great and Michael was a fantastic guide. He not only showed us great dishes but gave us lots of information about what we were eating, which was very fun!
