An absolutely unforgettable morning! Who would have thought there would be so much hustle and bustle in the city before sunrise. Having the guide was essential to navigate the wholesale market and was just such an incredibly valuable cultural experience. Of course all the food we ate/tried along the way was good too.

Truly unique and eye opening tour of a very important local market with our incredibly knowledgeable & personal guide Chef Duyen, not available through any other tour company. A MUST for any serious foodie visiting Hanoi!
Chef Duyen is amazing and hilarious! She possesses incredible knowledge of the night markets of Hanoi. You will be the only tourists during the whole trip. Come hungry - you receive several full sized meal portions in the second half. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see how the produce, meat, and seafood markets seamlessly provide all of the fresh food to Hanoi everyday. Must do!!
First, I should apologize for the delayed review! Chef Duyen provided fantastic insights into Hanoi’s food markets and culture. Her knowledge of the markets inner workings, and her relationships with many of the vendors there made this a great tour for those of us interested in the food service. The stops and tastings were great and the people we met were friendly and thoughtful. My only regret was not attending her cooking class. Thanks Chef!

Walking the streets before sunrise feels almost surreal—quiet, atmospheric, and completely different from the daytime buzz. You get a rare, behind-the-scenes look at Hanoi’s famous food markets as they come to life, witnessing moments most travelers never see. It’s raw, real, and incredibly eye-opening. The food alone would make this tour worth it. We sampled some of the most interesting and delicious dishes of our trip, including hands-down the best bún chả we had in Hanoi. Every stop felt authentic and thoughtfully chosen. What really sets this experience apart is Chef Duyen herself. She is warm, engaging, and deeply knowledgeable about Vietnam’s food culture. Her passion shines through in every story and every bite. You start the tour as strangers and leave feeling like friends, which says everything about the kind of host she is. This was easily the highlight of our time in Hanoi—an experience that goes far beyond food and gives you a genuine connection to the culture. Highly, highly recommend.
Really enjoyed our tour with Chef Duyen. She was an excellent guide and gave us a real insight into the wholesale market works and seems to know everybody. The mad hustle of the market at 4am was something to see. Tasted unfamiliar herbs and fruits and lots of cooked treats as well. Highly recommend!
Chef Duyen was Amazing. I did a private tour with her and it was more than what could be expected. Being a Private Chef myself she schooled on where all the product was from and how it was distributed, certain local ingredients that pair well . She took me to so many local spots . It was a pleasure just to share stories . Her English is great and so was her humor. YOU ROCK CHEF !!!!
An absolutely incredible tour, hands-down! It is honestly hard to put into words how wonderful of an experience this was. Duyen was a wonderful guide: so knowledgeable, with a deep experience of the market itself, as well as her own background as a chef. It was a tremendous privilege to get to see and learn about parts of the market that we absolutely would not have been able to visit without her guidance. We learned so much about the world of food in Vietnam and Hanoi specifically. And all of that is before even talking about the fantastic food we got to have! Complex and hearty bun cha and pho. Fresh fruits. An herb and chili-dip omelette. Sticky rice donuts. Banh mi and Vietnamese coffee. Bottom line: this was a tremendous experience, that would be hard to top, anywhere in the world!
