We had such a great time with Maria! She was born and raised in Barcelona and shared her culture and family story with us and took us all over Barcelona to experience the food and neighborhoods. She went the extra mile and we had a great time!
We have taken food tours in many cities and have always enjoyed them. This time, our tour was moved from Saturday to Sunday when some places were closed. Normally, our guide has a plan for places to go and specific things to eat (within our specified preferences). This is why we go on these tours - we want to visit places we wouldn’t go on our own and have a local order for us. In this case, the guide had to keep checking her phone for places to go and was figuring our route out “on the fly”. We paid a lot for a private tour for 4 people (only 3 attended) and when we tried to order a beer we were told that was not included (I paid the 2.75 euro fee separately). None of the food was particularly interesting or tasty. We did not experience anything we could not have done on our own. Our guide did speak English but she was hard to understand. Definitely not worth the expense. Do not recommend.
We had a private 3-hour, 9-tasting food tour in Barcelona for four people. First, I want to recognize our guide, Gonzalo. He was kind, communicative, and genuinely enthusiastic about sharing his city with us. His positive personality made the experience enjoyable, and he was one of the highlights of the tour. Unfortunately, the food experience itself did not meet our expectations, especially for the price. We paid approximately €550 for four people, and we did not feel the value matched the cost. We specifically booked what we understood to be a tapas tour. Instead, the experience felt more like a general food hop. We had two tastings at the market, several dishes at one restaurant, and then visited shops where many of the remaining tastings were essentially free samples. While everything was perfectly fine, it wasn’t the authentic tapas-focused experience we were hoping for. We’ve done food tours in Boston, Italy, and Greece, and this was our least favorite. That’s especially disappointing because Barcelona has such an incredible food culture. We left feeling there was so much more potential to showcase the city’s outstanding tapas, neighborhoods, and culinary traditions. If you’re looking for a friendly, knowledgeable guide, Gonzalo is excellent. However, if you’re expecting a premium tapas experience that justifies the price, this tour may not meet your expectations.
Adi was our guide and it was spectacular! A little bit of history, culture and FOOD! The stories behind everything just topped off the experience. A must do for your first trip to Barcelona.
Alan is amazing! Five stars does not do him justice. This was so much more than a food tour. Although food was absolutely delicious with choice of venues superb, Alan supplied us with his wealth of knowledge. Not only the history of the food but history of Barcelona as well! This tour is not to miss! Even if you have time for only one tour, THIS IS IT!
the guide was very well informed on the food and the town. We got to see a lot. Food id a big event in Spain
Great food tour! Lucy was awesome and started us with churros!! We ate, we laughed, we learned…all what we wanted!
Be prepared to taste wine and interesting local dishes. If it is raining, bring an umbrella. Enjoy the gothic neighborhood.
Excellent first day of trip tour. Alessandro is very knowledgeable and gave us a bunch of information and other ideas for our weeklong Barcelona vacation. Tremendous local knowledge, Spanish history and lots of good restaurant ideas. Other food tours we have done have us pop into a place and try one food and then move onto the next. This tour we did two stops and liked this format. Gave us time to be a more relaxed tour and not rushed. 5 stars
We had the most fabulous guide (Lusi). We learned a lot about the history of the places as well as recommendations where to go on our stay. The food we tried was delicious and plentiful.
