Notre voyage commence par un trajet en voiture au cœur de la ville de Falmouth. Les habitants sont connus pour « mek fashion » avec n'importe quel aliment de saison, vous aurez donc l'occasion de déguster une variété de plats tels que l'ackee (quand en saison) et le poisson salé, le crabe / homard (quand en saison), les galettes de bœuf jamaïcain, les galettes de poulet, le pain au coco et le bœuf avec une soupe de pois rouges. Tout au long de la visite, nous discuterons de l’histoire des aliments, de leur pertinence actuelle dans notre société et des ingrédients et procédés que nous utilisons pour cuisiner. Nous ferons également un arrêt chez KFC pour essayer le plus populaire des fast food américains qui a été adopté par le massif jamaïcain. Le terme « crabe de la route » est utilisé pour décrire le stand improvisé d'un vendeur de rue jamaïcain qui vend du crabe fraîchement pêché et assaisonné. On le trouve généralement le long des routes côtières ou à proximité des villages de pêcheurs. Ces vendeurs installent de petits stands rustiques ou étendent simplement une couverture sur le bord de la route pour exposer leur récolte.

We recently vacationed in Jamaica and stayed at a lovely resort, but we knew that we also wanted to book some off-resort excursions so that we could experience Jamaica from a locals perspective. Das was the perfect tour guide! We absolutely loved that this was a private tour and it was nice getting to be able to talk with Das one-on-one vs being lost in a crowd. 1. We visited KFC (which we were shocked about because we didn’t realize how big of thing KFC is in Jamaica) and WOW, let me tell you - one bite and it immediately took us back to the KFC in the US back in the 90s when their chicken used to taste like that. Soooooo sooooo good! 2. Next up with Juici Patties! Let’s just say I’ve had Jamaican patties before - but never anything that tasted like these. We got the chicken, beef, and the cheese - and they were all a 10/10. Zero notes!!!! Sooo good that I took some back to the resort to eat later in the day…..and they were just as good then as they were during our first bite. 3. Lastly, we went to Out A Road Crabby and even though we are now back in the U.S. I can still taste the food from this lovely local gem. The broth in the soup we had is something that I will never forget. The next time I’m in Jamaica - the moment I get off the plane, I’m going straight to Out A Road Crabby. Das, THANK YOU for taking such good care of us. We enjoyed our time with you and we wish you nothing but continued success. Everyone reading this - just go ahead and book this tour, you won’t be sorry!!!

Went in the food tour with Mama G and she took us to 3 wonderful places to eat local cuisine! She also gave us a tour of the sites.
