Visite gastronomique dans quartier juif

Description

I had a wonderful time on the Jewish Community Food Tour in Montreal with my mom! Melissa, the owner and our guide, was outstanding. She patiently answered all of our many questions and shared stories about the history, culture, and traditions of Montreal's Jewish community. I especially enjoyed visiting iconic institutions like Schwartz's, but some of my favorite moments were the unexpected surprises Melissa had planned along the way. The food was delicious, the tour was informative and engaging, and Melissa's passion for the community really shone through. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a unique and memorable way to experience Montreal!
This was a knowledgeable 4 hour tour of the old Jewish neighborhood with A LOT of food! It was very tasty. Our guide shared many stories about the history of the food, restaurants, and neighborhood.
Thank you so much. We appreciated your presence on the tour and taking the time to review!
This tour was a perfect blend of history and delicious food! Melissa did an amazing job explaining the history of Jewish immigration in the city and each stop was so tasty. Highly recommend!
Thank you so much Alla. I really appreciated you and your family. You were very warm people. Your parents were so sweet. Sorry the weather was still so cool! All the best.
If you use a walker or cane this is not for you My wife uses a walker and we couldn’t keep up with the group. After eating and the deli we fell behind the group quickly and had to take a taxi back to our hotel
I agree with that. We cover 3.3 km's and 8/9 stops in 4 hours. It is a challenge to keep the tour on time with people who do not have mobility issues and we cannot spread the tour over 6 hours. It isn't fair to the other clients. If you have mobility issues, I suggest a tour that is less dense and requires less walking or paying for a private tour: either a shorter version of the tour or a longer version at your own pace. It simply isn't realistic to ask the guide or the people on a tour to make it several hours longer for a distance you may not be able to walk in the first place.
Melissa was amazing, fun and informative. Very sweet and knowledgeable. Highly recommend. Lots of fun surprises.
Thanks so much. I really appreciate it. This review made my day! Thank you for coming and taking the time to review!
Melissa was the perfect guide! She took us to a bunch of places we wouldn’t have found on our own, and infused the tour with history as well as food. We had a great time and would highly recommend this tour!
Thanks so much Laura! I really appreciate your presence on the tour and the review! All the best!
The food we sampled was very good and thoughtfully picked out (even pairing beverages w the food at the right places). Melissa was full of knowledge about the city, and not just its food culture (she was knowledgeable about that too). She has a friendly vibrant personality and is a great host. We had a bagel throw down, a smoked meat sandwich throw down and all kinds of other delicious samples including pastries and dessert. Melissa also helpfully provided book and movie references for different landmarks in the city, which we will be following up on. We were two adults w two kids and had a great time.
Thank you so much Antara! As someone who also loves book and movie references, I thank you for the ones you also shared. I really appreciate the thorough, kind and generous review! Maybe we'll see you on another tour someday!
We had a wonderful small group tour with Melissa on the Jewish Neighborhood Food tour. There were many stops for tasty bites along the way. Be prepared for a long walking tour, but it is mostly on level ground and has plenty of stops. We learned so much about the experiences and culture of the early Jewish immigrants as well as the changes that have come about in more recent times. My favorite bites were trying the bagels, smoked meats, and chocolate babka! I highly recommend this tour.
Thank you so much for the review Jeanne and your presence on the tour. It was a treat! All the best!
We were a family of 8 so got a private tour with Darren. It was outstanding. We had 3 smoked meat samples, two bagels, two pastries, a falafel, and an ice cream. Plus Darren carried two little surprises with him. He was a knowledgeable guide who wasn't "teachy" but instead responded to our questions with a lot of information. The food was all half portions, but was still a lot. And the walks were good breaks between eating. Darren was able to walk at my 83 year old dad's pace, and keep the whole family included. There were places to sit down and bathrooms at about half of the stops (and Darren would tell us if the next bathroom was an hour away). They were able to accommodate the vegetarians in the group (fries instead of smoked meat, or at one stop egg salad). We have some finicky eaters in the family, but it was a safe place to try (and not like) new foods. Very worth it!
I'm so happy to hear that it was well appreciated! Thank you for underlining the attention to details and excellent work of Darren as a certified tour guide! He's amazing. I'm so happy that all generations were engaged and accommodated!
Very informative about history of Jewish Community in Montreal. Tour guide was great. Despite inclement weather with rain a good experience.
Thank you so much for the review Marla. It was nice meeting you and your daughters. I hope the rest of the trip was as enjoyable, despite the weather!
