<>* Dream destination <>*<>*<Tigersnest

I have wished to visit Bhutan for 30 years. After a lot of research, I decided to use a travel agent locally. Guru Travel. We have had a wonderful guide. Tshewang , who was very helpful on the way to Tigers Nest. Please do not underestimate the altitude and also the effort in temperatures and drizzle. We were very happy about the visit, even if it took us a long time to climb, due to drizzle jet lag and the altitude - a very happy moment to have reached the top I would do this tour again anytime.

Tiger Nest Trek

A great experience . This is a trek that takes about 5 hours up and down if you are reasonably fit. The distance of the trek is around 7 km from start to finish. It is not the distance, but the terrain that is a challenge. The path is rough and steep . There are a large number of steps to reach the monastery. When we went it started to drizzle and then there was snow! It was completely unexpected for March so we were not prepared. We had no rain jackets, not even good warm attire. It was freezing and wet. The way back was very tough as the path was sloshy and slippery. It was a relief to get back to the midway cafe for a warm lunch. All in all a memorable experience.

Pilgrime to Mindfulness Kingdom of Bhutan.

It has always been my dream to visit Bhutan once in my life. In this February I visited Bhutan for four days with my parents which not just my dream fulfiled, my parents dream also fulfiled.❤️ It took us miximum six and half hours to up and down to Paro Thaktsang, the Tiger Nest sacred cave of Guru Dorjey Drolo. It was a truly blessed day. We had a very good guide "Dorjee la" who actually very literate about richness of Histoy and heritage of Bhutan. Under his perfect guidance we have gain abandone knowledge about Bhutan and it's authentic culture and tradition. Really appreciate your kind and truly grateful to have you our Guide, dear Dorjee la.❤️🙏

Monastery worth the long walk up

This is an iconic site to visit in Bhutan. Some 94 % of foreign tourists visit it for good reason. To reach the Monastery situated at the end of a long climb, you need to walk approximately 4.2 kms. From the parking lot to the mid-trail cafe, is 2kms. Then to the top of the trail is another 1 km. But then you must proceed another 1 km down into a gorge and then up to the monastery entrance. From the entrance you need to go up about 50 steps to the monastery level. The monastery is multi-level, with a number of small to larger Buddhist chapels in which various statues of revered gods are featured. Some of the statues are quite graphic. There are two ways to reach the monastery - 1) by mule until the cafe from which you must walk or 2) walk all the way. Be sure to bring water. I walked it in 1:22 all the way to the monastery, without stopping. That is a fast pace. A more leisurely walk will require 2+ hours. Plan on a 4-5 hour roundtrip. The cafe offers breakfasts and lunches but I gather they must be reserved through your guide. I thought the offered buffet lunch when we were there was poor. They do make good coffee (which comes with cookies but you must ask for them). Soft drinks and water are available. The best thing I can say about the cafe is that it has a large deck with a great view of Tiger's Nest. Last advice: if you walk ahead of your group, make sure you have a ticket with you and your guide's license number. Otherwise, you will not be allowed into the monastery on your own.

Tiger nest monastry Bhutan

This is the best place we travelled in Bhutan in January 2020. The weather was pleasant. It is fairly a tough trekk but me along with my wife and 6 years old daughter managed to complete the trekk in 7 hours. We took break after every 20 meters of hike. It is better to carry lots of protein bars, snacks and water. Do not carry too much weight on your shoulders. The trekk is fairly a tough one but manageable. Enjoy

A memorable experience

It was on the morning of 11th June that we had planned to track to tiger's nest it was the last day of our Bhutan trip but it started raining early in the morning and we were quite disappointed. It continued to rain rounds 9:00 a.m. we were ready by 6:00 a.m. but was sitting and waiting planning what next to do since we had made up of our minds so we decided to visit at least The tiger nest base camp so we reached there around 10:00 a.m. and I wandered around our guide told us that it is too late to climb now and moreover it would be very slippery so it would be risky It It was on 11th of June that we had planned to trek to tiger nest but it started raining since early morning. We were quite disappointed but decided to go up to the base camp . once the rain stopped around 9.30a.m. By the time we reached and discussed about all the alternative it was around 11:00 a.m. Our guide discouraged us to go up as it was quite late and the track had become very slippery especially while coming down but as we saw some people taking courage to go up we also decided to take the chance or at least go up to some height to have a feel as we had nothing else planned for that day .As we started climbing up around 11a.m.,although it was difficult but we realised that we could do it .Slowly and gradually we started moving up. It was quite slushy all around and some people with young children were coming back after taking an attempt but they were nice enough to give us a genuine advice that if we were determined we could make it .They even handed over their sticks to us I found the stick very useful while tracking as it gave me some hold. Once we made up our mind we never looked back and taking one step at a time started climbing .Although we were panting and at times afraid that it might start raining again but never thought of coming back. By the time we reached cafeteria ,the weather had cleared and we were getting a clear view which encouraged us. It took us around 2 and a half hours to reach the monastery .Considering that I am 50 year old and my husband is 53 and the ground was very slippery ,I think it was not a bad timing .In the monastery,it took around 45 minutes including the waiting time. The sense of accomplishment on reaching the top was immense and the view is beautiful. We started our descent around 2:30 p.m. While coming down,we realised that we had climbed a great height but now that we had touched our goal so we were very happy and contented took a 15 -20 minutes break minute break again at the cafeteria and id.me in another 1 hour. In the end we were very happy ee that we decided to go rather than abandon our clan because of the rain it is a difficult track but anyone with determination and average fitness can do it .
