Patrizia was absolutely fabulous! She met us at the boat stop and gave a little tour around her neighborhood, Giudecca. She showed us the beautiful Church, Santa Eufemia, where Saint Giuliana Collalto rests. We visited local artists’ studios and shopped at nearby markets for the food we were going to prepare. Her house is right on the water with a spectacular view of Parrochia di Santa Maria del Rosario. We started our lunch with a cicchetti of mozzarella in Carrozza followed by a salad with vegetables only grown Venice. We learned hands on how to make fresh pasta that she used to prepare a wonderful Bigoli dish. We ended our meal with a delicious tiramisu. It was her own family recipe passed on through generations which she happily shared with us. We had such a lovely time cooking and exchanging stories. Patrizia’s knowledge of history and food is undeniable and it is clear she wants to share her love and passion for Venice with her guests.
We had a wonderful time. Giulia was a gracious host and an amazing cook. This was our best and final tour for the week.
Betty and I loved our time spent with Barbara, our cesarine. She was personable showed us how to pick certain items and why and demonstrated some of her techniques. Our issue is with Viator. Viator contacted us asking us to change the time of this experience. So we did as they asked. But Viator continued to send us reminders of the original time and place, not the rescheduled time and place. This became very frustrating as the reminders were relentless and continuous. So even though we changed the time and place at Vustirs request, they never acknowledged that we had made the changes.
We startetd our Tour with our host Bartbara at the Market and stopped at different local stores on our walk to her home. We got along very well and were very interested in what she told us about venetian food. She showed us things, that we would never have discovered by ourselfs. Cooking with her was fun and very informative. We had a very lovely and chatty evening with her. She also gave us a lot good recommendations for activities/restaurants for our next days in Venice. We highly recommed this expirience to evereyone! (preferably on an early day on your vacation so you got a nice start of your stay in venice)
