Prior to this class we had taken a cooking class in Rome and it was night and day. We had no idea what we were missing (we gave the last class decent review). The last class was 18 people and felt rushed and commercial. In contrast, this class with Vanessa was just 8 seated around a kitchen in the cooking’s school. She took her time and explained the process as we all took part in cooking. The quality of the ingredients and her explanations made all the difference and it was an amazing experience for someone who loves to cook. Would highly recommend this class!
Wonderful blended tour - from shopping with the Chef at the local outdoor markets and shops for the classroom ingredients, to preparing a fabulous three-course meal. The Chef was very engaging and clearly explained the preparation and cooking steps. Recipes for all dishes plus many more were provided after the class. A must tour to schedule! You will not be disappointed.
Personable, informative, and a overall great experience to see the market and learn to cook fresh pasta
Great experience!! Our chef/host was very knowledgeable and had a great personality!! The market and shopping were very interesting and the cooking experience/food were absolutely amazing!!
We are visiting Venice on our honeymoon, and had the best experience with Filippo at our market tour and cooking class yesterday! He was super friendly, and seemed to know everyone at the market, explaining to us the history of the families who run several of the stalls. He explained the differences between the types of fish, which ones are local vs imported, how to tell if the fish are fresh, etc. He also took us through the produce market, a spice store, and a cheese/meats store to gather all the ingredients we would need. When we got back to the space for cooking, it was very clean and well set up for the group. We made spritzes and had a cheese and meats snack before beginning. The lesson was interactive and informative - we made tiramisu, branzino, scallops, and fresh pasta with fresh pesto! We ate the meal at a communal table in an outdoor courtyard connected to the kitchen. He also shared with us a website with many of his recipes, including all of the ones from the class! Overall wonderful experience!
We had a wonderful evening cooking with Marisa. My granddaughter took her turn making the pasta and loved making the tiramisu! We made a pasta sauce that I never had but will make again and again it was delicious! Thanks for a memorable evening!
The whole family enjoyed the market tour and cooking class. Chef Filippo made the time together both fun and educational and the results were delicious! We now have the confidence to try making fresh pasta at home. We highly recommend this experience.
Amazing experience in a small group of 8. The guide was wonderful and we had a great time. The guide showed the class how to do things and including the participants in the experience. The final product tasted amazing, and included recipes afterwards.
Cooking with Chef Filippo was the highlight of our trip in Venice! It was such a great experience to learn about the market, pick out our own ingredients, and then go back to cook the actual meal. He made it really easy to learn how to make the pasta and tiramisu. I can't wait to return home and make fresh pasta for our friends and family! Highly recommend!
My fiancé and I were only in Venice for a short time during our vacation but the cooking class we did with Filippo is a MUST DO! We started by meeting at the local fish market and walking around while also learning about native fish. We also got all our produce needed for cooking at the markets as well. We walked through alleyways and streets only a local would know which is one of our favorite ways to explore a city. While walking around, Filippo pointed out good local eats for us to try! Upon getting back to Filippo kitchen which was a wonderful clean space with a patio to cook. We had so much fun cooking and learning different take aways to make our own pasta at home better. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that we would recommend to any and all looking for a local experience in Venice with great food and company!
