Fabulous tour of the Les Halles Paul Bocuse markets with Sonia. Very informative and lots of delicious tastings. Highly recommend!
Avoid booking with Original Food Tours. They did not contact me to say they needed to rebook me. There was an Original Food Tour guide and a couple at my meeting point so I approached them. The guide called the office and said I could not join the tour as it was private. Meanwhile, they have charged me fully and sent reminders that I should meet my tour. The couple graciously said they did not mind me joining the tour, but the company would not make that work. I understand the that tastings are arranged for 2 people rather than 3, but the guide also would not only not accommodate me, but also would not recommend anything in the market to me. She made me feel as I were the one making the situation awkward, when I was the one who showed up for my tour with her company at the appointed time. They charged me for the tour, mind you, and sent no sort of cancellation via email, phone, or Viator message. Just avoid them or you will end up fighting to get your money back like I am going to have to do. What a poor company- go elsewhere!!
Dear Kristen, Thank you for your feedback, and we are truly sorry for the inconvenience you experienced. After reviewing your file, it appears there was a booking issue that should have been communicated earlier — we sincerely apologize for this. The tour you encountered was a private experience, and for contractual and logistical reasons we cannot add participants, even with the guests’ agreement. We understand how frustrating this must have felt. Please note that your refund was issued immediately on our end, contrary to what may appear on your platform. We remain at your disposal if you need any assistance. Kind regards, The OFT Team
We just had a wonderful tour with Helen from Original Food Tours. The Les Halles Paul Bocuse is an experience. Helen did a fantastic job of explaining the place and restaurants in the hall. We learned a lot about how Lyon became such a rich place in food, wine, and restaurants. Very interesting on learning about the Michelin stars and restaurants here that have earned their stars. We filled out the form we received before our tour was to begin which helped Helen know are likes and dislikes. She offered foods to us that she thought we would enjoy trying and did not force items we would not. Which we really appreciated. Everything we tried was very good and we enjoyed learning the difference especially in chocolate. We had a very enjoyable time with Helen and learning about Lyon and the love for food there. Would highly recommend the business and Helen as a guide.
Excellent tour with Helen as guide, super motivated to share her knowledge. Different tastings of local products, caressed our taste buds and made us travel in different know-how of French gastronomy. A very pleasant moment.
Unfortunately l did not have a chance to experience this tour as it was cancelled late the night before. They offered the following day but l was leaving Lyon. I accepted a place for the old town food tour, however was quite disappointed.
Thank you for your message. We're truly sorry you weren’t able to experience the Les Halles tour, as we understand this was your original choice. While the Old Town tour offers a different atmosphere and culinary focus, it is designed with the same attention to quality, local insight, and guest experience. We regret that it didn’t meet your expectations and appreciate you giving it a try despite the last-minute change because our guide has had a bike accident.
Helen was very knowledgeable and great company. That was more than enough words to express how good she was any more would just be rubbish.
Helen was a fabulous guide. She provided great explanations and historical context for the things we sampled. We had a great morning exploring Les Halles and enjoying the delicacies of Lyon. Highly recommend!
Helen was a fabulous tour guide. We had a great time. Six of us had a great experience and tried many new foods. We tried seven different foods and had wine at a couple also.
Tour Guide was a No Show! We contacted the guide using the app twice and received no response. We arrived at 9:45 and waited until 10:15. Now trying to get refund for tour. Local tour company is incompetent!
Thank you for your feedback, and we truly apologize for the confusion. After looking into the situation, we found that the guide was waiting at the correct meeting point, but it appears there was a mix-up with the location. We're sorry for any frustration this caused. We already proceeded your refund request and hope to resolve this promptly. If you have any further concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us directly. We appreciate your understanding and hope to have the chance to welcome you on a future tour. Warm regards.
It was a wonderful tour. Helen was very knowledgeable providing exactly what we expected to guide us through Les Halles
