Good time

Lots of adventure! This is decently physically demanding so be prepared, but the kids loved it! I would recommend it!

Incredibly unique...

Incredibly unique experience, this is one of the only caves in Costa Rica that is open to visitors. You will be scrambling over and ducking under rocks, hiking in water and definitely getting wet in the waterfall, but it was very exciting. Our guide was incredibly helpful and encouraging when I was afraid to go through some of the smaller (optional) crawl spaces. I’ve toured a few caves in the United States and this was on a completely different level. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants a unique adventure (and doesn’t mind a few spiders).

Nice cave experience

The tour was interesting and was definitely fun to crawl around in and see the different formations. However, if you are afraid of tight spaces in some cases, you may not want to do this. Navigating some sections are slippery so be careful.

Amazing

Bit more challenging then expected, but we got an amazing experience with a great giude. All the smaller holes we went through can be skipped if you want, but i d advise against it.

Do It!!

We were picked up by Mario from Ecoterra. He drove us to the caves in a very clean, A/C equipped van. He gave us a run down of what to expect for the day and for the tour itself. Along the drive, Mario was very personable and provided us with education about all the flora and fauna of CR. Upon arrival, Mario gave us a run down of the grounds and informed us we would be using the van as our locker and that he would be with the locked van the entire time we were away which was very nice. We then met our tour guide, Mau. Mau was also very personable and educational throughout the entire tour. We were fitted for helmets and were provided with rubber boots at no extra cost. We had flip flops and croc sandals on (no heel back) and were told those would not be allowed. It appears that close toed shoes are allowed. My husband had them on athletic shorts and tshirt, I had on athletic shorts and tank top. Both outfits were acceptable. Once the other members of the tour arrived and got ready, we took the steep 10 minute walk down to the caves. The tour itself was very unique but also customizable. There were 4 specific sites within the cave that we explored. At every applicable spot, Mau asked us if we were comfortable with crawling in the tight, small spaces or through the water or if we would rather skip it. IMO, do all the things!! It can be tight but it is so worth it. I would say this tour, if doing everything, is moderately challenging. We had to crouch, crawl, and climb on uneven terrain or through water. But it truly was a fantastic and unique experience.

Bad!!!

It's very bad. It is said that it takes more than four hours, but the actual experience is only about one hour and ten minutes, which is far less than the expected price of more than 90 dollars per person. The experience of only one hour is not cost-effective at all.

This is definitely an off...

This is definitely an off the road excursion. It’s insanely cool but tougher than I was expecting. Be prepared to be wet and dirty. Definitely need to be fit to do any of the side quests like the “birth canal” but would definitely recommend if you want something different than regular nature in La Fortuna.

Must do

It was amazing. Our guide was friendly. one of the coolest things i’ve seen. Do bring a towel and clothes to change into because you will be practically crawling in water at times! so worth it!!!!

Best Tour of our Trip!!

It was beyond what we had imagined!! The cave was challenging, exciting and incredible to experience….Mau was an excellent guide and even though there were some parts that were a tad scary, we felt safe and well cared for in such a unique environment!! Been thinking about it for days, feeling empowered and grateful for this opportunity :)
