It was a gorgeous theatre and we had lots of fun seeing how everything was run. We got to walk all around back stage and see the cooling systems. We also got to go on stage and play a bunch of theatre games. And the guide was absolutely amazing and answered all of our questions!!
No booking required! Tours daily at noon. Vinceta gave us a tour of the entire facility. This theater has 100 ft ceilings, Greek murals and sculptures built into the architecture of a most impressive building. The only thing I have ever seen that rivals it's art and architecture is the basilica in Washington DC. This truly extraordinary theater has a rich history as it was once the premiere place in Boston for all major artists. These days Broadway plays and large concerts are performed there. As an added perk, a rock and roll Hall of Fame type exhibit was displayed in the basement. I was able to see original costuming of Elvis Presley, BB King, Etta James, Madonna, Michael Jackson and the list goes on. You do not want to miss putting this on your stop if you visit Boston!
We enjoyed the self guided tour of three exhibits here. Had a lot of fun at the “music bar”..learned so much. The theatre is beautiful too so make sure you go up to the third floor exhibit for the view too!,
Excellent tour guide! Informative, cordial and a theater aficionado. The restored theater is a stunning gem.
Stunning theater built in 1925; I highly recommend it! Elijah, the tour guide, was outstanding—- he was friendly and knew everything about the theater! I loved the history and architecture and being able to visit various places throughout the theater (I didn’t realize how large it is)! Go! It’s a great experience!
It was interesting to know the building’s history and how its purpose evolved to what it is now. Very special feeling when it is empty, seeing the backstage is and being on the stage is a unique experience. Our guide Marcus was knowledgeable and professional. Definitely recommend!
Thanks so much for visiting!
This review is for the theater It seemed rather dirty and not kept up. The ladies room was dirty.. My seat area was dirty box l2 And you couldn't see the show because of The chairs in front of you. People wearing shorts and flip flops. Huge line for drinks. Horrible traffic out front. Horrible experience will not go back.
Hi There, I am so sorry for your experience. This particular section is for our theatre tours, but I will be sure to pass this on to the operations team.
We were greeted at the entrance by V. We had a warm welcome to the theatre and were informed it was just myself and my wife for the tour, so basically a private tour all for ourselves. The tour itself was very informative and interesting. We are both theatre goers and enjoyed learning about the history of the building. We were blown away by the size of the theatre itself. It was larger than any theatre we have been in (we are from the UK). We were shown all parts of the theatre and told stories of performers that had played their. A truly fantastic experience for any theatre lovers. Big shout out to V who was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
When my wife and I were planning our trip to Boston, we saw the Wang Theatre and emailed to see if we could take a private tour. It ended up being one of the most interesting things we did in Boston. There is so much interesting history surrounding the theater, and our tour guide was able to go in depth and clearly knew the history without it seeming like she was just there to show us around or reading from a script. She was really engaging and answered all of my questions. We saw every floor, including the VIP area, and the guide had stories to tell everywhere. From the architecture, history, and its relationship to music and film, the theater has a rich past that we found fascinating. Thanks for the tour!
