The highlight of our Probolinggo tour was a visit to a Batik shop to watch the professionals at work and also have the opportunity to create our own piece. The batik stop wasn’t on the itinerary but definitely made the tour. Other stops included the Red Church, market, Chinese temple and lunch (average). The Probolingo Museum was closed on our arrival, which we thought the guide should have known.
This tour was our second from East Journey Travel, with another outstanding guide named Nita, who just happens to also be a certified volcanologist, in case your want to get close to lava! This excursion was more about experiencing the essence of the Indonesian culture and daily life spiced with super shopping opportunities. I didn't think another East Journey Travel guide could match Yuni's level of service and knowledge from the day before, but Nita was right up there sharing the "10" spot. When in Surabaya or Probolinggo, ask for Yuni or Nita or both from East Journey Travel. You won't be disappointed.
Assur was our guide, and he was very lovely! We were with a group and there was some trouble disembarking from the ship, but we were greeted and treated to a lovely day out, visiting first the temple of multiple religions, where my husband was taken through a ritual for his Buddhist mother. Extraordinary! Assur is well-versed on many religions and has a great time speaking about them. We learned a lot! Enjoyed making our own batik fabric, then wandered a quiet market (it was Christmas Day) before having a lovely dinner, a ride on the tuk tuks, and finishing with a visit to the red church. A delightful tour of around 4 hours that never felt rushed, we had a great time and we would definitely go again!
Great tour . Our tour Guide Agust was very good. Probolingo is a nice city, we liked the people and their culture
Better than the Surabaya tour. Need to find a new lunch spot. Restaurant was overwhelmed. Guide was excellent.
Thank you for booking with us and for sharing your feedback. We truly appreciate it and will definitely work on upgrading or changing any facilities, including restaurants, that do not meet customer satisfaction. Thank you once again, and we look forward to serving you in the future!
This was a good tour for a quick glimpse of what Probolinggo has to offer. Time didn’t allow much time at any of the places. Moon, our guide, gave good information and tried to teach us how to make a palm frond sword. A highlight was being able to have a go at creating some batik. The biggest disappointment was lunch - it was terrible and I wouldn’t recommend that the tour company uses that restaurant again.
The guide and driver were ok, but lunch was terrible, it took to long waiting in the restaurant, nog choice, we would have liked nasi, not oxtailsoup!. The toilets in the restaurants were dirty.

Our guide was very pleasant and his English was good. It was a well run tour. There were eight of us and he was able to keep us together in some very busy places and still answer all our questions.
The best part was the hands-on batiking. Cita shared knowledge of Probolingo history. The second best IMHO was the Cinese temple for the 3 biggest religions/philosophy.
It was a pleasant tour, well explained and very friendly. The guide was very nice and accommodating. The minivan was convenient. Lunch in a restaurant was very good. Altogether a nice tour.
