Description

This tour was great value for money. Our guide had a background in art history and gave us so much information on why the painting is so important. The later visit to the beautiful church was very special.
The most amazing painting I’ve ever seen. The highlight of Milano.
Thank you very much for your feedback. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed your time with us. We hope to welcome you again on a future tour. All the best, Your Travel Diary
This review is not about the guide, who was excellent, knowledgeable, and professional. We tipped her accordingly. The issue lies entirely with the tour operator and the way this tour was sold. We paid $190 for two people, choosing this tour specifically because it advertised: 1. A visit to San Maurizio, and 2. A small group tour with a maximum of 15 participants Both were changed. A few days before the tour, we were notified that San Maurizio was no longer included and was replaced with Sforza Castle. No alternatives were offered and no partial refund was mentioned. This is not a comparable substitute—especially since we had already visited Sforza Castle. This change materially reduced the value of the tour. The group size issue was even more misleading. Despite the listing stating a maximum of 15 people, we arrived to find 29 participants with a single guide, with no advance notice. We were already aware that the Last Supper refectory itself allows up to 40 people at a time. The reason we paid a premium for a small-group guided tour was not access to the room, but better interaction with the guide, clearer commentary, and the ability to actually engage with what we were there to see—rather than competing with a large crowd within our own group. Because the replacement stop offered no value to us, we left the tour immediately after the Last Supper instead of wasting time revisiting Sforza Castle. That should not have been necessary had the tour been delivered as advertised. This felt like a clear bait-and-switch: a downgraded itinerary, a group size nearly doubled, and no adjustment in price. Comparable large-group tours cost at least $40 less, and had this tour been accurately described, we would have chosen one of those instead. FYI: If you are going to book a group tour, pick the cheapest option. You may end up grouped together with many other travelers regardless of what is advertised.
Thank you for your review. We had already been informed of your remarks by the guide and therefore awaited your written feedback, rather than addressing the matter through a direct phone call. We are nonetheless pleased that the tour was overall considered satisfactory and that the guide was described as professional and competent, as stated in your review. We would like to clarify that several days prior to the tour we were notified of the closure of San Maurizio Church and informed you promptly. As clearly stated in the tour appendix, should a site be unavailable, an alternative visit is provided accordingly. With regard to the group size, the tour including the Last Supper is designed for a maximum of 30 participants and not 15; we are therefore unable to identify the source of this information. The cost and duration of the tour booked by you remained unchanged, and as such there were no conditions that would justify a refund. We regret that these misunderstandings have occurred and would have preferred to discuss the matter with you directly in order to better understand your expectations and, where possible, seek a mutually satisfactory solution to the discomfort you experienced. Lastly, we wish to clarify that Santa Maria delle Grazie Church (which is always included in the itinerary) and San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore are two separate and distinct sites.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience on this tour. Andrea was our guide and he made this experience even better! Not only did I not have to worry about getting tickets to the Last Supper before they sold out but the commentary during the viewing was so perfect. I am so glad I didn't do it on my own. Andrea was very educated on this experience and the piece we were looking at. The church after was so incredible. We are so glad we got to see them both. Then we stopped afterwards at the oldest bar in Milan, Bar Magenta! it was great. Loved the area, we had a nice leisurely stroll through the park and then Brera district. Perfect day in Milan. Great tour!
