Our tour guide was Magdalini (Magda) and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. We went early to avoid the heat. Magda told us stories along the way up and found shade for us which was appreciated because it gets quite hot. She was very knowledgeable and answered all the questions asked. We had some free time on top to take our own pics. The second half was the tour of the museum- I highly recommend someone do the tour with the museum because Magda’s explanation and stories of the artifacts in the museum brought the Acropolis to life. We took the tour that bought our tickets to Acropolis and Museum before hand. I highly recommend so you don’t have to deal with that issue. I highly recommend the tour. Note: our tour lasted 5 hours because of crowd at Acropolis. That was perfect for us because we didn’t have any plans afterwards but just note that crowded days may mean a longer tour.
Hi Shannon! Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review! We are absolutely delighted to hear that you thoroughly enjoyed your experience with Magda. She is fantastic at keeping everyone comfortable by finding those precious shaded spots and keeping the climb engaging with her stories. We are also happy that you recommended pairing the Acropolis with the museum; Magda's ability to connect the artifacts to the ruins really does make the whole history come alive in a special way. Thank you for the excellent tips regarding pre-purchasing tickets and for the heads-up about timing! You made a great point—when the site is busy, things can move a bit slower, and having a flexible schedule afterwards is the best way to enjoy the experience without feeling rushed. We truly appreciate your high recommendation! Warmly, Athens Walking Tours Team
Magda was one of the best tour guides we’ve ever had. She was knowledgeable about every question our group asked. Her English was excellent, and she even made sure we always had comfortable, shady areas to gather to and from the top of the Acropolis. Having the museum included was definitely a great decision! Totally worth every penny.
Hi Courtney! Thank you so much for this glowing review! Hearing that Magda was one of the best tour guides you’ve ever had is the absolute highest compliment for us. We are happy that her extensive knowledge and excellent English stood out, and we especially appreciate you mentioning her care in finding comfortable, shady spots for the group—it makes a world of difference when making the stroll! We are also so glad you decided to include the museum and found it worth every penny. Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience with us! Warmly, Athens Walking Tours Team
Breathtaking scenery and well worth the climb on a hot day. Sophie from Walking tours was our guide who kept us all informed and safe. Shoes with good grip essential as some of the marble is slippy.
Hi Odyssey, "On top of the world" is exactly how it feels standing up there! We are so glad Sophie kept you safe, informed, and smiling through the heat. Also, thank you for that golden tip about shoes with good grip—that ancient marble really can get as slick as ice, and future travelers will definitely appreciate the heads-up. We're happy it was well worth the hike! Warmly, Athens Walking Tours Team
Guide is super knowledgeable and had so much information to pass on. You wear an earpiece which allows you to wonder a little too take photos and still hear all the info.
Hey Dan! Thanks a million for the awesome review on Viator! We're excited to hear that our guide's deep knowledge blew you away. That's exactly why we love using the earpieces—they give you the freedom to wander off, snap those perfect photos, and explore at your own pace without missing a single beat of the history. Ermis was incredibly knowledgeable and provided a lot of context about the history and mythology of the Acropolis and its artifacts. There is no way we would have understood or appreciated the significance of the sites or the excavated items on our own. Truly recommend!
That is so wonderful to hear, Tiffany! Ermis has a real talent for connecting the dots between those ancient artifacts and the epic myths behind them. We truly believe that context is everything—without it, you're just looking at marble, but with a guide like Ermis, you’re seeing the foundation of a civilization. Thank you for the high recommendation! Warmly, Athens Walking Tours Team
Constantina was an excellent guide, a source of inspiration about Athens and Greece. Her humor and knowledge of Greek history were a terrific combination that kept our interest. Highly recommend!
It is wonderful to hear that Constantina left you feeling inspired, Harris! We truly believe that history is best served with a side of humor, and we are so glad she hit that perfect balance for you. The Acropolis and the museum are filled with so much to absorb, so it’s great to know her energy kept your interest peaked throughout the day. Thank you for the high recommendation and for choosing us to explore the heart of Greece! Warmly, Athens Walking Tours Team
The guide was excellent in terms of knowledge but he walked too quickly and left people behind. This became quite stressful, especially as the path could be slippery at times.
Thank you for your feedback regarding your tour with us. We are pleased to hear that you found your guide's knowledge to be excellent, as we take great pride in the historical depth of our tours. However, we sincerely appreciate your comments regarding the pace of the walk. The safety and comfort of our guests are our top priorities, and we understand that the marble paths can be challenging to navigate. We have shared your feedback with our guiding team to ensure that we maintain a pace that is inclusive and considerate of all participants, regardless of age, allowing everyone to enjoy the site without stress. We hope that despite the brisk pace, the beauty of the Acropolis and the museum left you with lasting memories of Athens. Warmly, Athens Walking Tours Team
